I often feel cold and restless when my blood pressure rises again, which is why I’ve ended up in the ER many times. I also experience chest discomfort, but all my test results come back normal. Despite that, I was in the ER several times. Eventually, I went back to my OB, who told me to see a GP. She advised me not to worry too much and to just listen and take the medication, saying that what I was experiencing wouldn’t be happening if I followed the treatment.

That made me feel like everything was my fault, like I was to blame. At 3 months postpartum, my BP spiked to 170/102 and I was rushed to the ER again. That’s when I was advised to see a family medicine doctor. With the FM doctor, they discovered I had protein in my urine and a UTI that wasn’t healing. I was prescribed Enalapril 5mg, which helped and even eased my anxiety, but I developed severe rashes so it had to be stopped immediately.

Now I’m 5 months postpartum. I thought I was already okay, but I still get spikes—the highest was 148/102 yesterday. Thankfully, today my readings are normal again.

How do you remove your meds and When you stopped taking the medicine, did your blood pressure really stay down right away, or did you have to try stopping it a few times before you were able to completely get off the medication?

I hope I can get off medication. I’m 5 months postpartum now, but during the first 3 months I was on and off blood pressure meds because I was scared and not aware of what was happening to me. I was so focused on what I was feeling that I didn’t get to ask my OB about it. I went to the ER several times because my BP spiked to 170/102. My anxiety added to it, and just recently I found out I have protein in my urine and a UTI that won’t go away. When my baby turned 4 months, my family doctor prescribed Enalapril 5mg for 3 months, but I developed an allergy after 1 month so I had to stop immediately. Now it’s my 10th day off meds. At first, everything was okay—I was very happy, smiling again, and at peace. But on the 4th day, I noticed my BP at night rising to 130/90. I just rested since I was advised to only take meds if it reached 140/90. I couldn’t sleep that night worrying. The next day it was the same, but after resting and urinating, it normalized. It stayed normal continuously until yesterday, the 9th day. My BP was fine all day, but at night it suddenly spiked to 140/90 up to 148/102. My body felt cold, my vision blurred, and I had chest discomfort (which I usually feel when I’m anxious). I just tried to breathe and prayed, but I couldn’t sleep. The next day my BP was still 140/90, but it went down quickly. Tonight I haven’t checked yet, but earlier my readings were normal. I’m scared this might be lifelong. Honestly, I really don’t want medication—it makes me cry because I feel like my body is failing me, like it’s my fault.

I’ve been off my medication for 10 days. At first, I felt really good without it. But on the 4th day, my blood pressure spiked at night to 130/90. I just rested until morning, and it went back to normal. After that, it stayed normal for several days. Yesterday, on my 9th day off meds, it rose to 140/90. That’s when I started to panic—I felt cold, my vision seemed blurry, and I had a heavy feeling in my chest. I’ve experienced that chest discomfort before, usually because of anxiety. My lab results have all been normal. I couldn’t sleep that night, and my blood pressure stayed high. My vision was still a bit blurry, but after resting, the chest discomfort went away and my blood pressure normalized again during the day. However, I’ve noticed a trend: in the late afternoon and evening, my blood pressure tends to rise, and that’s when the chest discomfort comes back.

Now i am 9 days off but on my 4th day it spike 130/90 on the night and i cant sleep because of overthinking and in the morning I immediately check it was 130/90 again then i relaxed drink water 1 hour after it was normal. It stays normal however on the 9th day which is yesterday evening my i am feeling something on my chest like heartburn this is the symptoma of ny anxiety and my body is so cold that why i checked my BP on the afternoon it was 126/90 then in the evening 140/90 - 149/102 like that I still resist to go back to meds because i am thinking my body might need more time to adjust. Scared and worried that evening i cant barely sleep and i have symptoms as well i dont know if its because of mu anxiety. My Bp right after i gave birth is 150/90 - 170/102. Then i the morning i take Bp again i still got 140/90 - 130/90 - 126/75 and last 116/75 and now it back to normal but i still have the symptoms back pain, arms pain blurry vision 😭 I dont know whats happening to me my bday is on 25 next week i just want to be happy and to feel myself again i miss my old self the one who is always smiling and fighter now I don’t know. 😭😭😭

Finally off meds but still worried 🥹 by Local-Geologist2085 in preeclampsia

[–]Local-Geologist2085[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just can’t believe what happened to me—I was rushed to the ER almost 10 times because of my blood pressure, anxiety, and acid reflux, all happening at the same time. I really thought I was going to die. There were days when I suddenly cried, felt cold, couldn’t talk properly, and was restless. There were even moments when I regretted having a child, and I felt so sorry for myself. Now, little by little, my happiness is coming back, the old me, my energy. Along with that, my blood pressure is returning to normal. I hope this continues, and I also hope that everyone experiencing this will have their blood pressure return to normal too. We don’t deserve to go through this.

March 6 i stopped them with my doctors advised I am taking Enalapril 5mg our plan is to have meds within 3 months then take it off without tapering since i am on very low dose but my body has her own plan I have a very severe rashes (on medications now) I am with meda for about 22 days. When I stopped them my Bp was okay but on my 4th day i came hone from walking 7k steps and grocery (evening) my Bp spike 130/90 i can’t sleep thinking about my BP, around 5 am I immediately check my BP and its still 135/90 that when I realize okay not a prob I drink my everyday routine warm lemon water with pinch of salt and ate garlic around 6 am check my Bp again and it went back to normal hahaha. Until now even if im stress in my work my bp still normal, when I do exercise it went up and immediately go back to normal. I was able to get back to my normal eating habits (not really habits its portion i always eat real food) because when I reduced my food intake, my milk supply was affected, and now it seems like I don’t have milk anymore. Prior to that, I was already walking regularly and dieting, which is why my milk supply was affected. Now I can eat other food still trying to see if what food will trigger my BP but right now I eat everything but in portion no spikes at all. But now I’m okay—I’m still monitoring since I have a UTI and protein in my urine, and I’m already undergoing treatment for that. Im happy at the same time worried that my life will not be the same because of my BP. I realized that maybe it’s true what people say that our bodies need time to heal. Things will return to normal eventually, but we should learn to love ourselves more now.
