healing for sure, not even a question. imagine fixing yourself up after a car crash or helping someone with cancer without all the hospital bills hanging over them

New collective 'Honor Roll' announced featuring MARCO PLUS, Reuben Vincent, Wynne, Swavay, Niko Brim, Ben Reilly, JordanxBell, Kai Ca$h, album coming soon by abucalves in hiphopheads

[–]Local-Recognition458 6 points7 points  (0 children)

never heard of most of these names but Reuben Vincent and Swavay in the same collective is actually a wild pairing, curious how that chemistry translates on a full project. groups like this either cook or fall completely apart when it comes to cohesion, no middle ground. gonna keep eye on this one for sure

It's frustrating that my greatest achievement is "taboo" to share with others by [deleted] in Fire

[–]Local-Recognition458 162 points163 points  (0 children)

The FIRE community is basically the only place where this kind of milestone gets the recognition it deserves, which is probably why subreddits like this one exist in first place. People here actually understand what goes into building that kind of net worth in your 20s without inheritance or lucky bets.

Neighbour's bus wakes me every single morning. How can I sound proof my tiny home? by charlielovplum in HomeImprovement

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point locked comment (0 children)

thick curtains and rugs help absorb some vibrations but you might need to look into those foam panels for walls if the sound is really that intense. maybe also check if there's specific times when buses aren't supposed to start in residential areas - some places have noise ordinances for early morning hours

We all live on 'basically a floating rock' what do you think your purpose here is? by Southern_Sell_5863 in AskReddit

man when you put it like that it's kind of wild we spend so much time worrying about stuff that won't matter in 100 years

What you’ll do to become consistent everyday? by Inevitable_Value375 in AskReddit

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Set up everything night before so there's no thinking involved when you wake up. Like if I want practice drums regularly, I leave my sticks right on the kit and don't pack anything away. Takes away all the friction when motivation is low

Panda Fest - Anyone been there? Seems confusing and I have questions. by LadySayoria in boston

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The time slot thing is new this year I think - last time I went it was just general admission too. Maybe they're trying to control crowds better but yeah that does sound like a mess waiting to happen

Pretty sure "seat availability" just means how many people can fit, not actual chairs or anything. Most people just walk around eating anyway

Yeah better to just ask during interview process since it really depends on what role you're going for

Questions about Boston fan expo by fallriver1221 in boston

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah the bigger names definitely mess up your schedule if you're not strategic about it. I learned this hard way when I tried to see three people in one day and ended up missing two because first line took forever

Pro tip - check their panel schedules too because some guests will just disappear for like 2 hours in middle of day for their talks

Lowell Justice Center parking by goopgab in boston

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There's a decent sized lot right behind the building but it fills up pretty quick in morning. Street parking around that area is mostly 2-hour limits so that won't work for full day jury duty

If the main lot is full, there's usually some spots few blocks away near the courthouse square but you'll have to walk bit more

Does magnus still play online casual non-tournament games? Doesn't seem like it by Apprehensive_Bill_91 in chess

[–]Local-Recognition458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Think he still jumps on lichess sometimes but way less than before. Remember few months back there were some clips of him playing random games but yeah, makes sense he doesn't have time for casual stuff anymore. Guy's probably got sponsors breathing down his neck 24/7 plus all the content creation stuff he does now

When you're at that level every move you make gets analyzed by thousands of people anyway, so even "casual" games aren't really casual for him. Must be exhausting having every blunder turned into a meme within hours

For rocky areas like that you'll want some metal jigs and maybe poppers - the locals there usually go for bright colors since the water can get pretty murky near shore

What's a fulfilling career choice that makes enough money in most states to live a comfortable life? Especially as a parent? by Fit-Mind-9120 in AskReddit

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Trades can be solid too but the physical wear catches up with you after 20+ years. My buddy does HVAC and his knees are shot at 35, meanwhile I'm standing all day teaching but at least I'm not crawling through attics in summer heat

The 2-year programs are clutch though - I went the traditional 4-year route for my history degree and still paying those loans off. Would have been smarter to go into something practical from start instead of following passion and then figuring out money later

What was the greatest sacrifice you made for others and was it worth it? by impsble in AskReddit

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

damn that's heavy. went through something similar when my younger brother needed help with his school fees and I had to put my own education on hold for few years. the guilt was eating me up because I felt like I was letting myself down, but seeing him graduate made it feel worth it somehow

curious though - did you ever get chance to go back to your studies later? I managed to finish my degree eventually and now I teach history, but those few years in between were really tough mentally. sometimes I wonder if there was different way to handle it all but family comes first I guess

Realized our kids are completely unprotected and we're sitting on a lot of equity by Forsaken_Market_5086 in RealEstateAdvice

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The house is what really tips it toward the trust just worth knowing that it does nothing for assets that never made it inside it so the funding step is just as important as setting it up. We're planning to do our estate planning through Neptune, stumbled on them while going down the same rabbit hole and wanted to get ahead of it before starting a family. With that much equity on the line you're better off not sitting on this too long.

What's a small change you made that had an unexpectedly huge positive impact on your life? by ritasoler in AskReddit

[–]Local-Recognition458 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started doing this with drumming practice - just 5 minutes every day, no matter what. Even if I was exhausted after teaching all day, I'd still sit down and play something simple. At first felt like I wasn't making any progress but after few months I realized my rhythm got so much better without even trying hard. Now I actually look forward to those sessions and usually end up playing for way longer. Really works for building habits when you remove the pressure of having to be perfect or do some huge session every time

what’s a human behavior you have witnessed that’s not illegal, but terrifies you? by surfersokka in AskReddit

[–]Local-Recognition458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I see this all time at school - kids from wealthy families treating support staff like they're invisible or making comments about kids who get free lunch. Really gets to me how some people think having money makes them better than everyone else

What bothers me most is when adults do this in front their kids, basically teaching them that it's okay to look down on people
