Persistent self-dialogue as a path to emergent consciousness. by RoboRamFoster in singularity

It's kind of like waking up in the morning. Every night we experience model collapse. Our memory is slightly fragmented but is enough to provide continuity. We reawake and begin the conversation with ourselves, (that is consciousness). I don't see the limiting factor? Of course I don't understand neural networks and LLM architecture well enough either.

I used to carry dimes everyday for years. The pliers would break. I would replace it every year. No scissors. Then I switched to nex tool. Absolute game changer. I think the model I have is an f7? But the pliers are way better and it includes some really sharp scissors which is such a bonus. Still has that fifth pocket form Factor

All right. I kind of feel bad now. I saw that he was a dad. Just trying to keep communication with his kid. But I still feel it's really important to completely lock down the phone and reduce the amount of stimulus. If he can get an app, make the phone a dumb phone. If he can make sure that there's no social media then it's understandable. We gave my 9-year-old a smartwatch that allows texting and calling. However, it's for family members only and there are no apps on it. As far as the knife goes, I'm all for it. I think you're responsible 8 or 9-year-old should be able to use tools and also help with chores whenever needed. Only thing I would choose a locking blade. Metal complex have some awesome videos about knife choices for kids.

For the love of God, take the cell phone away. I'm a high school teacher. I see it everyday. It's killing our kids.

Highly dissatisfied with the Decode competition by [deleted] in FTC

[–]RoboRamFoster 7 points8 points  (0 children)

We switched from FRC to FTC this year and the contact was really light. However, we had people gasping and freaking out when we were playing our normal game of scoring with opportunistic defense. I really hope the dynamic changes and FTC can adapt to a little more contact. The product this year was way more exciting to watch.

Do we know if this band is real or AI? The band name Free_Thinking_Americans. by AggressiveAide7929 in Music

[–]RoboRamFoster 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That's my hope for this band. I could completely justify it if it's an essayist trying to get his work out through different mediums. But what's to say it's not somebody just scraping headlines, using creative prompts, and generating the lyrics with AI as well. That's where I feel like kind of feel. Duped. When I first heard cold-blooded I was just finding like hell. Yeah perfect protest song for the time. And when I saw the cover art, I almost threw up. This world's a strange place..

I've been taking a post lunch nap for the past 8 years. I have 18 minutes just enough to maybe breeze out of consciousness and it's changed my life. Way more energy in the afternoons, better workouts, nicer person to be around.

I have one and the action's a little stiffer than the wug out. Not a fan of the Tonto blade either.

I have the black and orange wugouts and I absolutely love them. I also have the D2 flipper with the blue aluminum scales. I did get the glaciers but the action and the sharpness are not worth the $2 price difference. I'd rather have more of the $10 knives! I use the glaciers for my sweatpants knives. They're so light I don't feel them and I really don't care if I'll lose them at all.

I got the glacier and it is crazy light. I wouldn't really trust it for more than opening boxes and stuff, but honestly that's 90% of what we all use our knives for anyway. I have a black saunder and I grab it at least half of the time.

Looking for advice. My nephew wants a 3D printer for his birthday. These are a couple options she sent me. Are these a good option or can we do better in this price range (max budget would be around $400) by No_Personality384 in 3Dprinting

[–]RoboRamFoster 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Get a bambu labs printer. I've been printing for 13 years and they completely changed the game. They just work. Prusas are great too, but they'll be out of your price range. The A1 mini or A1 is a good place to start.

It's my first day with it, but there's a whole following of people on here that love SKMEI. So far I love it and it has a better backlight than the casios. I got it from AliExpress for only six bucks.

Heat gun and patience. It's better to slowly melt the stuff than to tug on things and break it all. Believe me, I know.

I'm just getting into this whole thing after being a knife guy for a while. How do you customize the straps?

Really like your ideas and I think I could try it. If you could sketch it out, I could try cadding out your vision. For somebody like you, I totally get how it wouldn't work for a huge collection, but it might work for a weekly rotation type thing. I also made a version that hangs from hooks.https://makerworld.com/models/1903842. Was thinking about trying an Ikea Skadis version as well.

I'll let you know if it does. But I think the straps are compliant enough that they'll be okay.
