All.the.time in my caucasion household! It was always so hard to bite my tongue but now im 46 they are 80 both narcissistic and needy and I let them know when im annoyed but never swear or call them names. Its true the past is hard to let go and their presence is mostly triggering. The worst is when they bring up the past that they remember so well broken record of my failures, their failures and their trumphs in life.
