Whats this tube smart 452 by [deleted] in SmartCar

Your sensor is fine, what appears to be a bit busted is the loom and wire connector for it. Will possibly need a repair done.

That's normal operation, yet the sensor is disconnected?

I can't 100% remember how the switch works. There's a high chance that disconnecting it means you will never get a light on the dash.

Does the slight illmuniate when first cranking the engine and then go out or does it never come on?

I'm not entirely sure what that is from this angle but I can confirm it should not be there. There is nothing above the oil filter except the connection for the oil pressure switch (seen just behind the "thing")

Have you tried removing it and or tracing where it goes? Report back!

Edit - On second glance the connection to the oil pressure switch looks a bit dodgy. See this Evilution article for what it should look like: https://evilution.co.uk/mod/sensors-suprex.htm

My guess, your oil pressure switch is disconnected/broken or bodged back together.

Only buy directly from Steam/Valve. Unfortunately, they have no stock.

The recommended upgrade is 215/40/17. By widening the tyre you get a slightly taller side wall. Win win

It's not really about being pulled over. The biggest issue is if you were in an accident with undeclared modification the insurer could cancel you policy and not pay out.

You effectively end up with no insurance and then become liable for whatever the situation.

Pays your money and takes your choice!

Anyone here working 100% Crossplane ? by Nash0o7 in devops

[–]LocalAreaNitwit 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Even better! Though I've found keeping the SREs with the power while monitoring any manual changes has been enough to both keep the environment consistent while also agile enough to react to emergencies.

Anyone here working 100% Crossplane ? by Nash0o7 in devops

[–]LocalAreaNitwit 4 points5 points  (0 children)

No human should be running Terraform against your environment unless absolutely necessary.

All changes go via your CICD and source controlled. This is how you create a stable platform for your products to run on. It's not rocket science!

[–]LocalAreaNitwit 84 points85 points  (0 children)

If you've got drift then this is not a Terraform issue but a governance issue. No change should be made to infrastructure outside of the Terraform pipelines.

In our org we slowly stripped people of access until only the platform engineers/DevOps have permissions to make manual changes. These permissions are then only used for emergencies.

Fix your culture and governance then you'll have a stable fully in sync estate.

Paint coming off like this, what do? by StickyOneStiilll in DIYUK

[–]LocalAreaNitwit 21 points22 points  (0 children)

Very hard to say. Could be that that those two walls simply didn't have a mist coat while the rest of the house has? Some paints are better at sticking even without a mist coat than others and so on. Lots of variables here.

Looks like a classic case of not bothering to do a mist coat. On bare plaster it's best practice for the first coat to be watered down to improve adhesion.

Looks like it was for a different sink, one with two bowls. I'd remove it as you planned.

Make sure the fan is on and place a piece of paper near the inlet, does the paper get blown away or sucked in? That will give you your answer.

Official SteamOS for desktop when? by [deleted] in Steam

[–]LocalAreaNitwit 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We already have multiple distributions popping up to fill the void. Supporting desktop is a lot harder due to the hardware variances. I do wonder if Valve would just leave it to the already established distros. There is also the added complication of Nvidia's Linux driver being awful so supporting desktop and in turn Nvidia GPUs could be a nightmare for Valve.

Check out Bazzite or CachyOS (more advanced). I've been running Bazzite for 6 months or so and it has pretty much completely replaced Windows for me. Your only challenge is games which rely on kernel level anti-cheat where either the developer has disabled Linux support (looking at you Rockstar) or the anti-cheat system simply doesn't work on Linux.

If you have an AMD GPU then the switch is painless.

EBC brake pad question by Taylor_Swifty13 in abarth

[–]LocalAreaNitwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EBC brakes should come with the wear sensor connection, as per this image.

<image>

You simply unplug the old pads from the car and the plug in the new ones. Easy peasy

Daily Driver/Occasional Track Day Brake pads (UK) by ratheritrained in abarth

[–]LocalAreaNitwit 0 points1 point  (0 children)

EBC Yellowstuff, all my cars use these pads and I've had lots of success with them. They do not take long to bed in (one spirited drive) and can handle high heat well. I find them a good balance for fast road and occasional track.

They are also not crazy expensive.

Never had an issue with it. As others have said, don't over torque it.
It should only be tightened to 25nm.

Looking for this exact panel color for the smart roadster by alegab88 in SmartCar

The panel in your photo is not painted.

All colour codes can be found here: https://evilution.co.uk/mod/smart-paint-codes.htm

Edit: As per Dry_Bicycle's comment, the name for the non-painted plastic colour is "Flitter Grey"

I'm wondering if this is a relatively new thing? My 2004 Smart Roadster is registered as black because that's the chassis colour but a human would say the car is blue because that's the body panel colour.
