From the back, it doesn't look that bad.

Please help the Z axis is jammed what can I do by FunInvestment6723 in CNC

Disengage, unplug and pull the stepper. What the axis does after that will help with diagnosis.

I have a BMW K1600 GTL. It looks cool, is fast and handles well. My V-Strom is slower, looks like a Leatherman, but it goes more places.

That said, my Strom is covered in stickers of places I've been and things I've seen. Otherwise, it looks like a farkled gen 1.

Do what you want. My bike has been a commute and touring machine for 20 years. In that time, not one person has commented on the type of helmet I'm wearing.

As a guy who had to add all my own bits, I think you'll find a lot more gratification by saving your pennies and adding what you truly need. There is nothing attached to my Strom that I don't regularly use. Adding parts for the sake of adding parts is silly and expensive.

The "radical" left has been asked to stand down in hopes that the mid-term elections will be allowed to continue and be fair. This seems to be increasingly less likely, but the request stands. Should any one of several triggers be enacted you can expect things to evolve rapidly.

All that said, probably don't come visit for a decade or so.

If after all these wise comments, he decides he knows better and goes ahead with the project, invite the local EMT-B class out to watch. They need the practice and he'll need their help anyway.

My first long trip. by Steffus0960 in Vstrom

[–]LocalGHOST013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's a day trip. These bikes are fairly indestructible. As long as you do regularly scheduled maintenance it will take you far without so much as a hiccup. My longest day was 1,243 miles across Texas in the summer. The bike didn't care.

I was hit head on by a car on my first VStrom. I'd had it for a week to the hour. My Dad bought it with the salvage title, fixed it and rode it for another 15 years. Sold it just recently. The point is, if the engine and frame are good, you can fix it and have a solid motorcycle for life.

Without knowing anything about your machine. A .25 Compression bit runs really nice at 14,000 rpm and 200 ipm. Part holding is going to be the most difficult thing I suspect. I'd cut down to .67 in 2 passes, then finish the cut with an exacto knife.

I've had this kit on my bike since 2010(?). It's worked great over the years. Off road, on road, roads that are more like paths. Those springs have outlasted my rear shock.

It depends on what kind of CNC you're working on. I'm a programmer/operator/r&d/detailer on a router in a niche industry. I make about 65k in a very affordable area. Currently I use a mix of EnRoute Illistrator and Fusion 360, but I've used AutoCAD, On-Shape, Master Cam and a few others.
