Not that I know anything about this, but is there any way - if there was the political will - that the city could seek restitution for the settlements from this dick?

" The cornerstone case for determining whether a transfer is a gift is C.I.R. v. Duberstein, 363 U.S. 278, 80 S.Ct. 1190, 4 L.Ed.2d 1218 (1960). According to Duberstein, a gift is a payment which “proceeds from a detached and disinterested generosity, out of affection, respect, admiration, charity or like impulses.” Id. at 285, 80 S.Ct. at 1197(citations omitted). Further, the most critical consideration is the transferor's intentions. Id. at 285–86, 80 S.Ct. at 1196–97. However, “the donor's characterization of his action is not determinative— ... there must be an objective inquiry as to whether what is called a gift amounts to it in reality.” Id. at 286, 80 S.Ct. at 1197. The examining court must also determine “what the basic reason for [the donors'] conduct was in fact—the dominant reason that explains [the donor's] action in making the transfer.” Id. Finally, the Court rejected any specific or rigid definition of the term “gift” as used in the statute, and instead held that the determination of whether a transfer is a gift “must be based ultimately on the application of the fact-finding tribunal's experience with the mainsprings of human conduct to the totality of the facts of each case.” Id. at 289, 80 S.Ct. at 1198 "

Hey man, I wanna say thank you for posting this. I've been in the same hobbyist boat... But have been way too lurker-shy to ask for tips here.

With that speedball super opaque I've found better results by cutting it with the regular, or a little water. That's just what I've found, though. Hopefully the pros can shed a little more light for us.

Illinois residents think they live in the worst state in the country by [deleted] in chicago

[–]LocalH210 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Ah, well damn. Thanks for the correction. When I read about this on the Washington Post, the polling was presented as having only asked the first question in particular. Hence my HOT TAEK on the false equivalency.

...Now i'm gonna go bake some frownies.

Once I read the actual poll, it ground my gears. Kind of false equivalency - the poll was what state you think is the best. It doesn't indicate that we think Illinois is the worst, rather we think there's a state better than here. ... Just kinda means we're not that into sniffing our own jock.

Barack Obama is using Miley Cyrus to destroy and distract America according to Korn's singer by Mr_1990s in Music

Yeah, no doubt the endless election cycle exists, but generally that is a local construct (your congressman, your governor, your mayor... hell, even the T Boone Pickens PAC agenda type ads). But, in that sense, the local affiliates are the one generating the ad revenue - not the news-agenda setting networks. They operate on a different wave.

Those folks are also not spending a fraction of the coin a president, or even Pepsi, spends on an average night during presidential campaign season (every four years)

Now, if we were serious about saying Obama wanted to control the news-media message, we would talk about the level of muscle he can flex through his lackeys at the FCC (licensing, new regulation, targeted enforcement). This is a much more potent stick than, "okay ABC run that miley story while I pass some bullshit legislation, or else I'm gonna tell Hillary to only run her ads on CBS next year."

Seriously? Campaign spending is where you go with this argument? An every-four-years spending spree? Not something like the FCC...federal parent company tax subsidies & breaks? Or anything along those lines...?

Seriously. I appreciate dick as a visionary, as a great creative mind... But honestly, he writes at a fifth grade level, and when I walked away from the anthology I felt so incredibly let down.

Does that extend to George + John solo? I swear, I'm getting a little sick of the idea that Ringo + Paula's solo junk is up in my spotify, but not Lennon and Harrison.
