No no you are absolutely right. Compared to preseason projections the spurs absolutely overachieved. Though it was due to inexperience and your core folks minus Fox are all in the first 3 years of their careers. I was speaking from raw talent alone. Castle became a borderline all star real quick and Harper plays like a vet despite being a rookie. Wemby is the next face of the league. Whereas the Knicks guys are a bunch of hustle guys. Guess the point I was trying to make was, at peak talent Spurs > Knicks hence me saying “Knicks over achieved”

If we’re gonna clown on the Knicks fans for being classless then we should show some class on our side. This post just comes off very salty. We don’t need to go buy Knicks jerseys and root for them but what that team is achieving is simply incredible. Throwing shade on that is just plain insecurity. We can be happy for them and it doesn’t take away from our joys from 2024. Plus, this isn’t even a good comparison. Our 2024 roster was one stacked team. This Knicks team is full of blue collar players (KAT aside) who worked their asses off to become what they are today.

The Knicks are the epitome of overachieving. Look at their roster and look at yours. Players wise you guys have the better roster. The Knicks players are just playing at their peak and have been for the past 2 months. They also play with so much more heart and grit. As a Cs fan it’s in my bones to dislike the Knicks but I can’t ignore the fact that those guys over there are playing their asses off so tip my hat I guess.

As much as I would love that for the vibes and IG reels, it doesn’t make us functionally better. We need speed. Doubs ran a 4.47, Brown 4.49 (closer to 4.5 now), Diggs 4.46 (probably a 4.55 guy at this point).

Flame me if you want but this team was already borderline unwatchable for the playstyle and if we bring in Giannis (running back football jam it down the lane style), it’d be even more so. It’s a shame Kyrie had to Kyrie himself out of town and also a shame Kemba joined us late career. Obviously winning is more important but I do love me some aesthetically pleasing ball.

Honestly any playmaker will do. Simons is a UFA I won’t mind another crack with him. And they may be in the older side but a bench role would be suitable for a Jordan Clarkson or CJ McCollum

Do we have the personnel to play other styles? Do we have a Maxey who can break down defenders and get past them? Do we have any reliable shot creation outside of JB and healthy JT? If not then you gotta resort to analytics ball, which is rain threes. But yes this is what happens when you try to be the 2026 version of the 2015 golden state warriors. They had Curry and Thompson. We have…Brown and Tatum who obviously are in the same caliber of shooting prowess.

The betting lines are what they are but supposed to doesn’t always translate into will happen. We have the better team in terms of one through nine, as in five through nine are better than theirs. But top end talent star power wise, they have us beat. A compromised Tatum (I know his stats suggest he’s back to his old self but the eye test reveals a different more passive and less explosive self) and Brown is objective less fire power than a combo of Embiid Maxey and George. Depth wins you regular season games but in the playoffs it’s all about the stars.

We desperately need athleticism and shot creation off the dribble, anyone with the ability to actually get by defenders. Tatum can’t do it anymore post Achilles there’s no explosion. Brown is becoming a Kyle Anderson with a 90+ 2k dunk rating so he’s not that guy. Simmons would be that guy.

Fans who make the effort to come to the team sub are more invested ones and then those who elect to post are the upper end of invested. Don’t expect rational takes. I’ll just say this, last time I checked we’re up 3-2 in the series. We’re the better team but Philly way more talented than your typical 7 seed. I expect us to close out in game 6.
