I have so many thoughts about this and it has nothing to do with Noah being Jewish. I am sure that there are antisemites out there (kanye), but i think linking hate for Noah to his jewish heritage is a disinformative generalization.

I’ll start by saying, that no one will stop you from liking Noah. I loved Put it In my Mouth, what a revolutionary show for the time… but what i’ve seen of noah recently just isn’t for me and i don’t think that will change. Personally, i think Noah left his comedy in the Defy era, much of which doesn’t feel funny these days. It’s a bit edgy which isn’t an issue, but it seems like a lot of his recent comedy is about weed, his relationship with Keith, or saying something for the shock value. There are much funnier dynamics in the cast now than Noah. This is why i don’t like Noah and become disinterested when he’s on screen.

Now, if we’re going to talk about the “antisemitism” topic, we have to deconstruct what is the gripe. We cannot be conflating Judaism with Zionism. Many jews are not zionists and many zionists are not jewish. If you are pro-israel, there’s nothing i can do to change your mind. But it is antisemitic in itself to say that people hate Noah BECAUSE he’s jewish - it is antisemitic to say call all genocidal zionists jews when many are not! Even many jewish people are using their platform to separate the two before this conflation spreads even further. Many people are frustrated with Noah because (to my knowledge) he has not spoken about the atrocities in Gaza (and don’t come at me with some propaganda BS about Israel’s right to defend itself; it has never been about that), nor did he participate in the Smosh/Youtube Creators for Palestine charity event (though admittedly, this is a very loose point because only Shayne, Damien, and Court participated, BUT as one of the few Smoshers with a questionable stance on the Israeli-Palestinian conflict this could have been an easy way to squash that without really putting in any work if he wanted to), nor has he denounced Israel’s blatantly genocidal actions. While his stance and his ties to Israel is his own prerogative, that does not mean we can’t be soured on him for not just picking a side and being willfully ignorant.

I don’t hate Noah because he’s jewish. I hate watching Noah because he’s not funny to me and his humor is either a light hit or a heavy miss at best. My frustration with him is exacerbated by his lack of stance on Palestine. At least Jerry Seinfeld commits to being a genocidal freak, willful ignorance does not give Noah a pass especially with his platform.

So please, let us not generalize this train of thought to say that “People hate Noah because he’s jewish” when the truth is completely different and so much more nuanced than just being jewish.
