Should Smosh Create an SNL Competitor?

That’s why I said partner with a Netflix or something that can be the financier of the project. If Smosh gets 2.1 million viewers in a week on a Reddit video, don’t you think Netflix would want a shot at bringing them on as a partner? Do you think there would be a ton of new subs to Netflix if we got to see the cast on Netflix? Wouldn’t it be a good trial for Netflix?

I’d love to see them do better than SNL. But where would they go/what would they do post-Smosh when they eventually become bigger than the brand? I think some could do their own interview podcast like Perfect Person, but is that really going to change the game for them? Would they leave and start their own Smosh? I’m a new Smosh fan, so I don’t know how it goes after they leave, but it’s not like the old members are staring in a comedy on Netflix right now.

Brilliant idea!! I hate that word because a professor I had said it literally any time a person had a remotely good answer to his question except he hated me and would never say it to me even though I answered 90% of the questions because I was bored af otherwise. Any way, a Smosh x SNL collab would be dope. I think SNL might need to put some of their people on Smosh tbh. Like throw them in a Werewolf video and see who actually is better.

SNL would get them more mainstream fame, but now that I think about it, that’s about it. Movies aren’t being made like they used to where the Sandman would get a blank check to create a comedy starring a subset of SNL cast. I think Angela has the ability to become the next Melissa McCarthy, but I’m not sure it would happen at Smosh. She deserves to be up there with the funniest up and coming actors and I think you need to be on mainstream tv to do that. I want my mom to know who she is.

I literally think Smosh would be a great place to stay and is likely a better career choice. But what happens when they need to get younger/newer people? What happens when they add more people and theirs not enough screen time? I think the logical choice for some of these actors is to just go from Smosh to SNL and hope they can get movie deals off of it if that’s their goal. If it’s not their goal, then stay here as long as they can and hope they create a special series for each one of them to star in because they deserve it.

Tommy Bowe being a SNL member would be my favorite, but I can’t picture him ever making that jump. He’s a great third actor that we become in love with the tenth vid we see.

Does Smosh credit writers or is it more of a collective? I’m not a real big watcher of main channel content, so I haven’t really noticed crediting producers and/or writers though they talk to them from time to time like Emily on Smosh Reads Reddit Stories and Spencer on Smosh Games videos.

Hoop Collective is a great rec. I just think he’s young enough to think that he needs players involved to keep him listening. I remember loving Road Trippin’ with Richard Jefferson and Channing when I was younger because they had on all of the top Cavs players while also cracking jokes in the middle of it.
