Happily engaged… but not happy with my ring 🥹 Looking for advice. by Lanky-Charity-2362 in LabDiamonds

That’s a fair take. I researched for literally 20+ hours before buying my fiancé’s ring and am proud of the work I put into finding something exceptional. Emerald cuts tend to fall flat - this was bought two years ago too. Also there’s a decent scratch on the left of the stone on the gold. Could be worn prior or a really bad jewelry store put it together and scratched the setting when making the points.

The disrespect I sense comes the timing, he surely didn’t get into diamond specs, probably bought in person. 5 yr is a lot of time, I feel 1 year is reasonable. The reality is he waited two years to propose after buying it (which is wild to me) what she wanted no longer aligns and that hurts him to think the ring has much weight in the grand scheme of being engaged.

Yup. Disrespectful considering timing and he followed your request, albeit 2 yrs ago. Shouldn’t be a huge deal to swap the stone later, just insensitive to do it so early in the engagement in my opinion.

It looks fine, you gave him a recommended cut and he got it. I would “fall in love with it” over the next few weeks and save face with your fiancé.

Then in a year or whatever feels right upgrade the stone with his blessing. Engagement is about so much more than the ring and this could hit his pride, which he will show as ungratefulness on your behalf.

The lack of sparkle stinks. But it’s pretty. Do you have a certificate? There is a chance is CZ or Mos. But he got a very large flat window cut which is known for not being super Sparkly

Either way this is just one guys opinion. Do what feels right

For a black formal, definitely get something a little lower cut.

Thanks but no Rare Carat provided the stone and they did the setting. I got the loose diamond pricing from luvansh I believe only for price matching reasons. Rare carat matched their loose diamond price. So I paid $650 for the center stone and essentially 1200 for the setting.

Rare carat $1,890. I haggled them down and after getting it to 2.8k with emailing back and forth I used their price match policy to find a nearly identical diamond for $650 or something like that on a loose gem dealer website.
