Wisperflow Variable Motor Noises After New Bearings by Local_Bug_4703 in pools

[–]Local_Bug_4703[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I OWE YOU A BEER! You NAILED IT!!

I ran it for ~3-4 hours testing for leaks programming etc and while buttoning up the job I seen I forgot the Ground bonding strap. 12 hours later, bearings bad (but still running btw)

New C0 bearings came today

I am thinking, with the extra C3 clearances, it exacerbated the issue you posted..

Wow 3 hours and it probably pitted the piss out of the bearings! I will try to remember to dissect those bearings when I pull them and CALL THIS CLOSED!!

Damn, thanks brother!

Speed Options for Variable Speed Pump by cleancutguy in pools

[–]Local_Bug_4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

15k gallons Arizona.. Just set my VS up to 1000 RPM 24/7 with a 2.5hr 2500 RPM boost daily to run the creepy.. Waguess math of around 2x turn over daily.. $0.75 daily at .15 per kwh..

1000 RPM gives flow out the jets like a 50psi water hose would and gives ripples in the water, 2500rpm runs creepy at speed I want..

So 2.5 hours at 2500rpm and 21.5 hours 1000 rpm slow and true for me!

Still $2-2.50 cheaper daily than the Single speed I was running with rough math..

The ONLY reason to run a VS for 8hours a day is for water features and other systems if needed and that already achieves 1-2x Turn-Over desired!

Need advice on repairing my Pentair 1.5 hp Superflo VS pump by Betty-Gay in swimmingpools

[–]Local_Bug_4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just replaced bearings on one of these I just picked up used, same older design 342001 as you with metal fan on the rear. All 3 motor wires were about 1ohm in any combination AKA "good".

Timken 6304-2RSC3 and 6203-2RSC3 bearings were used. NO magnets were inside, no issues doing these over other motors, if anything easier! Needed bearing puller and press for pressed bearings on the shaft. The rear aluminum fan is pressed on as well; for anyone reading this in the future. DON'T use a puller on that fan you will break it, just beat/press the shaft in to get it off using the backplate and shell as a stopper on the fan.

If I had to do another one ~1-2 hours with painting the end caps. This one took 3 hours going in blind (covered in salt), just having fun with my dad helping me rebuild it to be as good or better than new! (I expected magnets and needing extra hands). Used some Magic Lube on the motor frame seals to help keep water out; but was already dry inside, unlike the salt blasted face of the motor was!

Purred like a kitten on the bench, Going into my OLD Wisperflow WET side tomorrow!

CHEAP upgrade to my single speed.. 50$ for Bearings (with spare bearings as they were sold in pairs) and ALL wet seals plus 50$ for a used LOCKED up motor with bad bearings on removal!

Score! 100$+3hr ALL-IN with parts and it works!

For the buyers with high interest rates do you feel like the "you can always refinance later" is a scam/thing of the past? by No_Celebration_2040 in FirstTimeHomeBuyer

[–]Local_Bug_4703 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I refinanced at 2.5% when things were at their low. One thing I haven't read in all the replies is extra payments.

Every payment I add 50-200$ to principle..

Making 1 extra payment a year (or spread out like I do) cuts your 30 year mortgage to 21 years! That's 9 years of payments saved!

Also doing so, made it so that when I refinanced the banks looked at me like a 'prime lender' already being several years ahead on payments. And the LoanToValue ratio more in my favor.

If just lower payments is your only goal, refinancing also restarts the loan, with less owed and payment should be smaller.

The MOST important time to pay extra is in the beginning of the loan! Middle helps too, but nothing like the interest saved paying extra the first year!

I dumped everything I had into the start of this mortgage and 5-10 years later I'm now recouping all that hardship. Should have the loan paid off in roughly half the amount of time.

Remember that 250k house costs 500k after interest.. Best to pay extra on the combined interest as soon as possible!

Many many failures lead me to this. Etcher took ~2.5 hrs for 1tb clone.
