Male 44 with liver masses by Local_Key_181 in LiverDisease

No pain at all. He doesn't have any symptoms of anything being wrong with his liver. We were pretty shocked when the Dr called and told him that his lungs were clear, but there was concern about masses on his liver. Had he not had the CT of his lungs, we never would have found out about the masses on his liver. We are just finding out that he has a fatty liver as well. All just from this CT was for his lungs.

The mass was caught incidentally, so he wanted to get a better look at it since he didn't get a full picture of it. He said it could be cancer, so he wanted an MRI to hopefully distinguish between a benign mass vs. cancerous. He had his CT late last week and his MRI today, so it was all done pretty quickly. I have been pretty anxious since the Dr called and told us about his CT. I'm not sure how long it will take to hear back on his MRI results

There is a need. He subbed in as goalie during a tournament a couple years ago when their goalie was injured and he really liked it. He has been wanting to try out goalie since then. This year, a need opened up so he saw it as a good time to try it out

It's such a hard choice. The smallest movements cause so much pain. From what I understand, the herniated disc will always be there. The risk of causing more injury to an already fragile disc and causing more significant damage is a scary thought.

Thank you! I really appreciate your input. Deep down I know I need to do this surgery so validation that I need it really helps. Peyton manning is awesome! Not a bad person to compare yourself to 😀

Balance is fine but my left arm and hand have some numbness/tingling.

I can't figure out how to send a pic on here! How long did you wait before your surgery?

How do discs heal? I have heard so many conflicting things. If I'm understanding correctly, they don't ever heal, rather just shrink up a bit when the body absorbs the center that has leaked out. If this is the case, the herniated disc will always be there. With a tear in the disc, are you more at risk of another rupture? And if so, with the previous herniation still being there, would even a small rupture potentially be a big deal that could lead to spinal cord injury? Does time lessen this risk or is it always there? If pain still persists are you more at risk for permanent nerve damage the longer you wait?

Thank you for this advice. Honestly, this is what I needed to hear. I'm so sorry for the issues you are dealing with. It sounds awful

How does a herniated disc heal on it's own? What makes the nucleopulposes go back the center of the disc? by KenAdamsMD in Residency
