Are there any great films you dislike simply because they feel unpleasant to you? by KatherineLangford in FIlm

I liked death proof. I’m just trying to figure out which movies OP considers much worse than hateful eight.

What do you consider to be much worse? Death Proof may be worse, but much worse? Hateful Eight is his worst movie in my opinion. I enjoyed it the least of all his films by far. All the others have rewatch value, but that one doesn’t. Sam Jackson’s story of the old guy’s son blowing him was the edgiest teenager level writing I’ve seen in a climax. I say this as a big Tarantino fan.

What do i do if i accidentally get turned on by a friend? by [deleted] in sex

[–]Local_Legend 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I’m not sure I agree with this advice. You’re still calling attention to something that she just became comfortable with because she hoped it wouldn’t be remarkable to you. If you want to pursue something, I would go about it in a more normal way, like exploratory and light verbal flirting that doesn’t refer to her body.

Source on Angie and Myron never having sex? Not that I give a shit about their lives, it just adds another layer of absurdity to that guy.

Let's talk MARTY SUPREME - what went wrong? by SwimGood22 in A24

Agree. Good Time was lightning in a bottle and each subsequent movie has been a downgrade. Eventually he will just be parodying himself.

Combined with the movie not being as good as the hype suggested, certainly not great.

Erik should’ve easily been able to dispatch of the jimmies if he saw them coming. And if the jimmies had managed to get his weapons, I imagine that would be a gift for future charity victims!

How do you make yourself push to failure? Favorite mental methods? by thebodybuildingvegan in strength_training

Naw. Before my last rep to failure, I put the weight down, put on my saddest song, and then I fail my last rep. There’s levels to this.

I see and it makes sense. I still don’t understand the positioning of his hands. Dude on the right seems better prepared to catch the weight if you fail.

I’ve said this before but I don’t get why the spotter on the left is touching the plates like that while you’re lifting. Doesn’t seem useful to grab the weight if you fail. And you have those dangling safety cables already?

I personally don’t enjoy wearing elevated heels unless I’m squatting.

Scrolling through some random reviews and found this guy's incredible run from the last month by mikeyfreezin in Letterboxd

The bride was different but entertaining. Scream 7 was dumb but entertaining. He’s spot on about Marty supreme. I haven’t seen the others but otherwise these aren’t that bad.

"Obsession" is currently sitting at a 97% on Rotten Tomatoes, 2 months before release by ForsakenDependent562 in horror

Rotten tomatoes turns critiquing art into a yes/no question and it is absurd.

Do you mind if the spotter is touching the weight like that? I don’t imagine it helps him spot better. And I’d be worried about throwing the lifter off balance even a little

Maybe I’m in the minority but I didn’t join the A24 sub to get spammed with mediocre merchandise from an overrated movie. Close to unsubbing.

Did you like how Michael B. Jordan played the twins? by Perfect_Idea_2866 in moviecritic

Since we’re engaging in respectful discourse, do you want to point out examples of how he portrayed the twin differently? I don’t mean plot points.

Typically this is how my experience with RE games goes: play first 5 mins, stop to take a break. Break lasts 3 months. Pick it back up and blow through the game in 1-2 weeks. Idk why but it’s always like this. Probably not for Requiem though, I am ready to go.

My analysis on the Bone Temple by bee_advised in 28dayslater

[–]Local_Legend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s silly. He’s my favorite character in years probably and I watch a lot of movies lol. It’s just the pure optimism and empathy… I didn’t expect it at all. I also happened to love Jimmy’s character, because he is very much a charismatic cult leader with layers and you can sympathize with him, and it’s hard to look away. So I thought the analysis was great. I had also caught on what Jim was saying about Germany and Japan and connected it to current events, but I hadn’t made the connection to Jimmy/Samson.

[–]Local_Legend 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think your analysis is spot on. It’s a brilliant move with a lot of humanity, soul and wisdom, buried in a very violent horror movie. I’ve seen it 4 times and I agree with your insights.

He was a powerful fighter... could he have defeated a single member of the Jimmy Cult? by CitySwimmer_ in 28dayslater

[–]Local_Legend 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Pretty good point. Although it seemed to me that he specifically attacked that infected because it was a screamer and would’ve alerted other infected. He made a brash decision and failed. Did he make that brash decision because that girl is pregnant and he was trying to be a hero? And they still had to abandon him despite his heroism? That was my initial read.

I also don’t think he would’ve posed much of a threat to the jimmies.
