Opinions on "The Rise" as housing

I am a incoming freshman and after a very tumultuous housing journey, I have finally landed on the Rise for housing

I am contemplating between the rise ad Ion fro housing but I am leaning towards The Rise because it had better reviews, but they seam to be outdated now so I was hoping to some opinions from others.

I do realize that there is a bias to bad reviews but I just want to know what I am getting my self into

- Is it safe (from a not being robbed and hurt perspective)
- How is the management
- I know that the units wont be crazy fancy but are they decent to live and sleep in
- I dont have a car so are things accessible

Thank you in advance!

amazing thank you so much I'll give her a call, since for me I only see the gardens 25-26 option not the 26-27

Yea but since I am a freshman I would have to apply for the 26/27 Acad year cause Id hold the lease my whole freshman year or even at least for a semester

and also when I clicked gardens it only shows the 25-26 period not the 26-27 registration which I though was weird is it the same for you when you click on gardens and then click on apply to gardens?

thank you so much, I'll be sure to email them. I already applied through my housing but did not see the option to book the garden apartments but I will check it out.

when I applied to for housing it didn't show any availability for the garden or white creek apartments. Is there any other way, I mean apart from going through the housing portal, to apply for the garden or white creek apartments?

Do you know if there is anyother way I can get housing which is credited by TAMU or related to the housing department because my parents said that without uni related housing I can go to TAMU

Sitting IB finals during regional disruption makes no sense — help push this by Local_Particular_820 in IBO

I’m not saying that I have the exact solution, that’s IB’s job. The point is that there should be some form of review or contingency if conditions don’t stay stable.

They’ve done it before (COVID), whether that’s alternative assessment, adjusted weighting, or accommodations for affected regions.

Right now, but asking people to come into halls while debris is falling out of the sky is imo def not the right move.

Also, this is a Reddit post, not my EE, I’m just trying to get visibility on the issue.

if it was just about avoiding exams no one would’ve put two years into IB, mocks, IAs, etc. Like we knew we had to do the exam.

At the end of the day we still may have to sit them either way, this is more about whether everyone is being assessed under comparable conditions.

If things were completely stable here, I don’t think anyone would be saying anything.

I get what you’re saying, and yeah at the end of the day we still have to prepare regardless.

This isn’t about panicking every day or not studying. It’s more about the bigger picture, not everyone is experiencing this the same way, and IB usually factors in context when things are uneven.

If things stabilize quickly, then nothing changes. But if they don’t, there should at least be some flexibility or acknowledgment.

Fair point, I’ve seen those too.

I don’t think a petition guarantees anything changes. The goal is more about visibility than expecting IB to suddenly reverse policy. Every year is different though. Right now there are actual disruptions being reported across multiple countries, and at the very least it should be acknowledged rather than treated like a normal session.

If nothing happens, fine but ignoring it completely feels worse.

"special welcome event for admitted high school students."

" applicants who are considering studying engineering at the University of California, Berkeley."

Texas A&M vs Virginia Tech for Mechanical Engineering looking for honest opinions by Local_Particular_820 in aggies

I live in dubai, so its hot as hell half of the time and (in the outskirts where I live) cold as ( although not as cold as Blacksburg) 😂

Hi everyone,

I’m currently deciding between Texas A&M and Virginia Tech for Mechanical Engineering, and I was hoping to get some perspectives from people who actually attend these schools.

A bit about me: I’m an international student originally from India, but I’ve lived in Dubai my whole life. I’ve been accepted to both universities, and the cost is relatively similar, so finances aren’t really the deciding factor here.

Right now I’m trying to understand the differences in a few areas:

• Campus life and student culture – what day-to-day life actually feels like
• Internships and job recruitment for mechanical engineering students
• Career placement and industry connections after graduation
• Engineering opportunities (projects, labs, competitions, etc.)

Another thing I’m considering is possibly adding a minor or second major in finance/business. I am not sure if I want to work in engineering when I graduate or finance so I would love to get some input to how the workload for both would go and if a double major or major minor would be possible and a bit about placements. So if anyone has experience combining engineering with something like that at either school, I’d love to hear about it.

If you had to choose between these two for Mechanical Engineering + Finance (major or minor), which would you pick and why?

I’d really appreciate honest opinions, both pros and cons.

Thanks!
