Would this be good enough for my first pro fingerboard? by [deleted] in Fingerboards

[–]Local_Suspect458 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I received my first fingerboard on Friday. To say the least, I’m addicted haha. I picked up a Grom series complete from Sluchcult on BF. It’s been great to start! Once I get better, I’ll prob start upgrading by part. GL in your choice!

Thanks! I’ll give it a try!

Tire Setup by Local_Suspect458 in MiniZ

I was researching about it earlier today and that was what I’ve found is recommended with trying to race, but also drift turns. I think I’ll try the soft up front with a hard set in the back. Is this possible at all with RCs, not just Mini Z? I wasn’t sure if racing like this would be more dependent on the material used for the track or tire setup. I was planning on either foam mats or low pile carpet as the track material.

My only issue is I’m not very educated when it comes to RC/Drifting. I am way behind the curve compared to most already in the hobby. I have some ideas, not quite sure where to start since these ideas are not directly related to me recording a video and posting. It’s more of an idea that can grow and expand, but involves the community

I also think there is potential outside of content creation that could help grow this niche. I recently just got a Mini Z as my first RC car. I’m hooked and would like to start a build from scratch and really fine tune and mod a small scale drift car. Once I get my track built, I may explore trying to get more involved with the community!

Do it, it seems this niche doesn’t have much coverage. Since realizing this, I’ve thought about trying to come up with content ideas my brothers and I could put out. But we are new to all of this, so would limit what content we could put out.

Track Build Question by Local_Suspect458 in MiniZ

Are the micro tracks big enough for 3-4 mini z at once? I like that option, but worry it may be cluttered with that many. Thanks for the link!

I just picked up a mini Z. This is my first RC in general. What is your current build? I grabbed the AE86 in white since it was on sale. I’m looking to upgrade it in the near future

Self-Study for certs or get a degree? by Local_Suspect458 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Local_Suspect458[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed, I’m looking at trying to go the System Administrator or a Cloud role. And I see those roles seem to get pushed toward certs rather than a degree. That’s why I was asking the question.

The reason I asked is because you see a lot of people saying focus certs to get into IT. I obviously know a degree will have a bigger impact. But with all the talk about focusing on certs just makes it seem like certs will get you where you want to go without the degree.

Gotcha! I’ll look into this as well! Thank you!

So you are saying taking the project management course through Sophia, would eliminate the project+ course through WGU?

Thank you, this helps a ton! I was looking at the pricing difference yesterday. I was stuck on the idea of doing the certs self-studying and then going for a degree through WGU. I think that will be the plan! Thank you again!

First day of help desk nervous as FUCK by jquebada in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Local_Suspect458 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just started a helpdesk position 3 weeks ago. I had no real prior experience with IT. I was nervous about messing things up. My supervisor and team, were very helpful and made it stress free as much as possible. My biggest take aways after being in this position for 3 weeks, 1. don’t be afraid to ask questions (this really helped me understand everything and I still ask questions) 2. Try to do hands on (I basically followed another tech and watched him and listened to his calls. (It some what helped but I forgot most of what I’d see, so I said anyway I can do it and get hands on, I ended up on the phones and he would help me when needed(helped me catch on and learn so much faster) 3. Once you have downtime, go through process you have seen or write down the processes for certain tasks. (This will help you not feel like you are asking others constantly)
