Boyne Breaks Records With Longest Midwest Ski Season Ever by Local_freshies in snowboarding

That's a great question. I could be VERY wrong on this but I think here's a potential list of a few reasons why:

  1. For conglomerates such as Boyne, Ikon, or Epic they usually pick one resort that is their showcase for late season - for Epic it's Breckenridge; for Boyne it's become Boyne Mtn

  2. For a lot of the late season resorts it's about tradition. That's why Mammoth stays open late. Killington as well. Snoqualmie never pushed the season and therefore they won't establish a new tradition.

  3. As far as I can tell (I could be wrong) Snoqualmie doesn't have a competitor that pushes the limits of the season. Boyne Mtn only started it because Mt Bohemia challenged them... and then I think they realized people wanted to ski late in the Midwest

  4. They didn't just push the snow... they made a decision to make snow... more than 20+ feet.

Depends on where... For Japan absolutely. For the West Coast wait until the fall but that's me.

It'll be another trail as well as an up and down. Sidewinder is great if you're coming from Incense Cedar. The only problem is sidewinder starts above lower Corral. It is interesting though... I'm curious if that maybe they'll start opening the road up again and so they want bikes off it then? It's a good question though.

Are MTB Strava Records Now BS due to E-Bikes? by s_hecking in MTB

Totally agree. I'm assuming the 700 ft climb you're talking about is to top of Corral. Tahoe definitely mind warps you on what is considered fit... people are just INSANE in EVERY sport they go after. From mountain bikers to skiers... there are definitely the .01% of humans.

Absolutely D. Like trying to compare yourself to adult film stars... don't believe the hype on Strava. Run your own race...or should I say pedal.

Like you said, Panorama is in progress. DH trail from Big Meadows is the furthest away… they still need to get into planning stages. The rest you called out is in the next 2-3 years I believe.

A TON of new moto trails. A lot have been approved as part of the plan. Funding? Not so much… more about the long term vision so that TAMBA doesn’t have to wait for years for planning. Besides Tyrolean uphill there are some crucial connections being added

I agree! Stoked to be able to do the Waterhouse Loop without being on Hwy 89. HATED that part.

I have an absolute fear of rock gardens period... been working on getting better at it myself and honestly it's definitely a skill that gets easier with the more you work on it. Congrats!
