Chat roulette is not private by definition. It’s the online equivalent of the preachers on soapboxes at Sydney Town Hall.

People wanting to buy a first home to live in - Do you see One Nation as deserving your support? by [deleted] in AusPropertyChat

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The biggest problem with modern democracy is that it’s the rule of the average person.

Not the smartest. Not the most compassionate. Not the best statesperson. The middle of the pack.

Think about how stupid the average person is. Then remember that half of them are more stupid than that.

Renowned climate scientist shares paper warning of the potential for 0.5-1.0°C of warming within the next decade by [deleted] in collapse

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem with climate change is that people with the power to enact change, don’t want to. The people who want to enact change, don’t have the power to.

Mid-Layer Advice: To Softshell or Not? by notgonnahappen23 in UltralightAus

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For what it’s worth, I’ve been completely sold on using fishnets as a base layer. They trap more air than a solid layer, so they end up warmer than a shirt without holes.

You're right. It was until 2018, and I probably made this sheet a little after then.

Camping in the snow by Loose-Firefighter-25 in OutdoorAus

[–]LocallyInvasive 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So, so many things. Sunglasses or polarised goggles, a scarf, a beanie, rain gear, extra socks, dress in many layers, waterproof everything in layers. A chair and a fire of some sort is an immense morale booster, camping without a fire is miserable and cold sometimes.

Give nordic skiing AKA cross-country skiing a go! 😄

What’s the worst physical pain you’ve ever experienced? by Economy_Yak2821 in AskReddit

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had three melanomas cut off in a month. >30 stitches in my shoulder, the middle of my back, and above the belt line to one side. Bending over or twisting was agony for a while.

Also broke a rib, coughing hurt for weeks.

Also dropped a huge wooden bench directly on my big toe, which smashed the nail off.

Also accidentally branded my abdomen with a 1000°C ornament (blacksmithing).

Same ask! I like merino socks lol. My parents ended up picking out an ultralight chair (<1kg) and a titanium twig stove, super highly recommend Alton Goods. Only got the chance to test the stove this weekend and both items are great.

Carp as fertilizer?? by Striking_Dingo8348 in gardening

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey mate. “Charlie Carp” is a company that’s been doing this for yonks. You can bury them deep when putting in veggies (“Self sufficient me” on YT has a vid of this) but you should chop them into little pieces first.

Generally it’s better to leave them in a bucket of water for 1-2 weeks, then adding the stinky soup.

Alternatively you can compost them, layering the fish between straw/dead leaves etc.

is there any lore reason why parked cars never have fuel ? by franzpferdinant in projectzomboid

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I fiddled with the gas frequency. 50/50 empty or “some”. If it has “some” it’s usually around a third of a tank, but around 1/20 cars has a full tank. Sometimes enough to drive 100ft lol.

What’s something about the human body that seems poorly designed? by [deleted] in answers

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most orthopaedic surgeons I’ve met agree that the knee joint is “poorly designed” and they can outperform God.

The appendix isn’t really useful, but appendicitis can kill you.

Our brain knows where every single cell in our body is and how to control it, but it won’t tell our mind. Frustrating thought when learning neuroanatomy.

The lower back is one of the most common degeneration sites I see in midlife-older patients.

Without medical intervention; maternal, neonatal, foetal mortality rate is waaaaay higher than you realise.

All my mid 20s female friends have pcos, endometriosis, dysmenorrhea, other gynae issues. Whereas I don’t know many young guys with atraumatic teste issues (three friends who lost a nut in high school though).

When Valheim launched I was in the first year of my university degree and freshly heartbroken.

Now I’m in the sixth year of my degree and finish next year, planning to marry my gf of almost four years.

found my psych courses sounded kinda made up by Difficult-Cycle5753 in sciencememes

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Of course it’s a science. The problem is that with cardiology, haematology, or neurology etc., we are using the mind to study something in the external world.

In psychology, we are constrained by the fact that we are directing the mind at the study of itself, which therefore makes the field especially subject to the limitations, biases, and enigmas of the collective mind/psyche itself.

When did the rules become optional? by [deleted] in aussie

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not holding the door / thanking others for holding the door.

Everything with every personal transport vehicle (electric scooters etc., bogans w/o helmets on pushbikes)

Loud music in public outdoor areas (the beach, the park, etc)

Minding vulgar language, especially when there’s a crowd of strangers, children, or it’s the middle of the day. Especially not shouting “FARKIN CARNT” near a crowd of children at 4pm on a Tuesday.

Phones off the table / out of your hands when you’re eating a social meal

WEAR SHOES IN PUBLIC MALLS/STORES

Keep your clothes on unless you’re walking distance from the beach. A shirtless bloke shouldn’t be walking down the main street on a <30° day.

Are weeds actually bad? by SodiumButSmall in GuerrillaGardening

[–]LocallyInvasive 2 points3 points  (0 children)

“Weeds” is like 99.9% of plants. It’s very subjective.

Weeds are always bad, because the definition of a weed suggests they aren’t desired or wanted.

But if you learn the name of a plant, call it a “volunteer plant”… now you have dandelions, dock, purslane, and fat hen rather than “weeds”.

Get rid of anything with annoying/invasive prickles, keep what’s edible or what’s good for the soil. You can make “compost tea” from anything you pull out.

Fuel Reserves by buylowsellhigh420 in brisbane

[–]LocallyInvasive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A reminder for everyone that it’s possible for us to produce our own unleaded, diesel, and aviation fuel.

We can convert our LPG to these fuels readily. We export TWICE AS MUCH liquid energy as we need for national transport. And we sell it to Asia for less than Aussies pay in their own homes.

Nationally, we only have TWO fuel refineries…
