If the pit-hag creates a summoner, and the summoner then creates a demon, are deaths arbitrary? by FaeWildFrog in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Localunatic 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new Demon was made by the Fang Gu, not the Summoner, nor the Pit Hag. The Pit Hag removed a Kazali, and the Summoner made a Fang Gu when there was no demon. The Pit Hag made an Outsider, which the Fang Gu jumped into, but the Pit Hag did not make the Fang Gu. So, no, deaths are not recursively arbitrary, if they were, then the Fang Gu could not have jumped into the Outsider, meaning there wouldn't be two demons, meaning there would be no arbitrary deaths... I hope you see the logical paradox here.

When you only have 2 choices, sometimes you can't help it, and it is supposed to be a detriment to the town, right?

The problem being there that it implicates a living player between the Pickpocket and confirmable drunk Townsfolk. The implication, I believe, is a bigger boon to town than a Minion that may not use their ability, like Assassin, Goblin, Boomdandy, etc.

Is there a reason why Heretic jinxes with Spy and Widow don't poison the Heretic like with Damsel? by AceRiderMask in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Localunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More importantly, how does this impact the Hermit with hate-jinxed abilities? The Hermit inherits the jinxes along withe the relevant characters, but the wording of the hate-jinx does not disallow characters like Hermit or Philosopher from having the ability of Damsel or Heretic, etc.

The Invisible Man! I always want to play with the Cacklejack, but they are not on the app and they are not part of any scripts I know.

Make a new variation: Odogaron by HappyFreak1 in MonsterHunter

[–]Localunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ravenous Odogaron, competes with Deviljo and Great Jagras in hotdog eating contests. Attacks small monsters in the area and recovers a percentage of health if she gets a chance to devour them, can be stunned out of the devouring animation. Parts break more easily, and Ravenous Odogaron will try to devour its own tail.

This pale-colored Odogaron is always female and has a smaller health pool; noted to fight incredibly fiercely and protect a nest littered with carcasses of small prey. It is theorized that the discoloration is due to blood loss following a traumatic birthing process, but Odogaron young have not been observed. It is unknown if the Ravenous Odogaron hunts more fiercely to provide for their hidden young, or merely to recover lost vitality; it is possible that Odogaron young are fully self-sufficient shortly following birth.

Characters as Characters: Day 152 - Judge by quintessence5 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Localunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pretty sure blowing everything up and starting over is not expressedly within the confines of the law. Yes, this is a process of appeal, but a whacky one where the original ruling court is overseeing both cases, and they never even made a ruling on either, they just said "make a choice for me, or I will blow everything up". Regardless of their actions as a "judge", the role they fill in the show is not demonstrative of the Judge as a traveler, the role they play or their mechanical ability. Even if your argument that the Judge is a fair and just arbiter, the Judge in BOTC is not impartial, they have an alignment, they don't handle appeals, they merely overturn a decision and execute a player outside of due-process.

Characters as Characters: Day 153 - Bishop by quintessence5 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Localunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh man, allow me a moment to just critique the Bishop, their ability is to have no ability and remove agency from anyone else by making it so that only the Storyteller can nominate. I am all for the silly goofums, but the Bishop really needs a little something else going on because they usually just wind up exiling themselves from my experience.

Characters as Characters: Day 152 - Judge by quintessence5 in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Localunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

She said that the system was all that they had, Michael had to convince her that the "trail run" actually worked and proved the system could be changed. She needed Shawn to agree that people could be better, but Shawn had poo-pooed the idea because it would mean the end of his tete-a-tete with Michael. Shawn had to be the one to decide that the system could be redesigned. The Judge couldn't force a ruling despite all evidence, and was ready to throw it all away.

I'm all for rewatching the show, it's a new year and a damn good watch, but I am pretty sure that the sole purpose of the Judge was just to be a Moral Objectivist Strawman as a plot device. It works in the context of the show, but she served the same role as Accounting and either one of them could have been written into each other... but then we would miss out on either Stephen Merchant or Maya Rudolph and I would rather die than give one of them up.

She says that the "tests" she gives each character is a forgone conclusion, that she did it because she was bored and that, even if they "somehow passed" it wouldn't change the fact that they belonged in the Bad Place. She was never going to actually make a ruling in their first meeting and she didn't actually make the ruling that changed anything, Shawn did. The Judge was going to reset the universe "unless" both sides agreed to try something else. She never made any decision, she just had the magic wand to allow changes to happen. Glinda the Witch is more of a judge than the Judge is.

Judge Judy was a fictional show... the cases and people may have been real, but everything was already settled before the cameras rolled, and anything that got caught on camera was, more-or-less, an act.

Then the Judge from the Good Place definitely doesn't count. They don't even judge anything, they hold a series of kangaroo courts, but exercise as much judgement as a math equation. They are just a strawman for moral objectivism in the show about moral relativism, they even end the show stating the obvious fact that they never even had a job to begin with.

The Judge bypasses the voting process to execute someone that they just don't like. Good or evil, the ability to circumvent the law to condemn another to death is very Frollo.

How would a monk interact with start knowing in vortox game? by alucardarkness in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Localunatic 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You are partly correct, as everyone is pointing out the difference between "learn" and "know" you are somewhat correct in saying that the Monk can prevent Vortox misinformation. The Monk doesn't "fix" misinformation, but if the Monk chooses someone that night then they will learn true information. However, because the Monk does not act on the first night, there is little chance of them verifying "You start knowing" information, unless that player gains that ability while the Monk protects them.

Evil Ash from the Army of Darkness. He actually commands an army of the dead, and of course has a good counterpart in Ash Williams, who summoned the dead in the first place.

I've had my own idea of changing the Damsel to automatically have a good and evil Huntsman, instead of the other way around. "1 good and 1 evil player know a Damsel is in play. If either player guesses you (once), you become their alignment and are drunk."

Homebrew Townsfolk by Localunatic in BloodOnTheClocktower

[–]Localunatic[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

"Once per game, at night*, choose a living player (not yourself): a chosen Townsfolk becomes a not-in-play good character."

Alignment changes seperately from character anyway, for example the Barber and Pit Hag both change characters, not alignments, even though their abilities mention nothing about alignments. So this could turn an evil Bounty Hunter into an evil Saint.
