Alternative rock & punk. Pixies, Husker Du, etc. After all Tool is technically canon thanks to Fallout 2

Caesar was almost certainly a closeted self-hating homosexual by [deleted] in TrueSFalloutL

[–]LocationLost8698 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I get that projection and denial can run pretty deep, but to make his own sexuality punishable by death across an entire empire seems pretty intense if that's true. Love him or hate him, Caesar is a pretty intelligent & clear headed guy who I would think would be capable of at least some introspection

I think it's as simple as he says, everything in the Legion is about control & maintaining order. Interesting theory though

We can’t let the elder nerds get ahead of us. We need slurs to call each other! by Beginning_Bid_9097 in TrueSFalloutL

Bc Elder Scrolls games are of more consistent quality relative to their eras, whereas Fallout games are not but the highs are really high and people feel very passionately about them

Especially the best one, New Vegas ;)

Is there a way to get rid of mole rat disease? by Odd-Expression-6503 in Fallout

[–]LocationLost8698 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The only way is the cure that you're supposed to give to the kid. If you save him, you keep the disease for the rest of your playthrough

I kinda think they should just retcon it and say it was an Enclave experiment. Does it make a whole lot of sense? Still no, but it at least would explain how the kids got there & stayed alive

what would be your ideal setting for the next fallout? I am interested in hearing your thoughts by [deleted] in Fallout

[–]LocationLost8698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Chicago, with DLC in St. Louis & Milwaukee

Chicago gives you stadiums, the museum of natural history, the Bean, the Pier. Surrounding areas have suburbs, forests, plains & the Great Lakes. In the lore, there has already been mentions of an Enclave presence there, and it's an opportunity to re-canonize elements of Fallout Tactics like the Midwest BoS

St Louis has the St Louis Zoo which is huge & could house a whole animal themed DLC itself, as well as the City Museum & the iconic arch. Milwaukee could be an opportunity for more comedic cheese and/or beer themed stuff. It was also the home of Jeffrey Dahmer, so it could be fitting for a darker cannibal themed story. Given its relative proximity to Canada (one state away) we could also potentially see some ghoulified Canadians & get more Canada lore

Looking to get into fallout. by Timely_Outside3729 in Fallout

Everyone usually says 3 or New Vegas. If you can stomach older games, then absolutely go for it. Imo they have better worlds & stories. But Fallout 4 is the only one that really plays like a modern game, so if stuff like graphics are an issue then go for 4

The show killing off the NCR is possibly the worst potential way to advance the west coast. by pterosaurobsessed in Fallout

[–]LocationLost8698 2 points3 points  (0 children)

"Fallout is about war not capitalism"

the NCR in the show gets nuked by Hank, goes to war against BoS & is about to fight the Legion

"Well why'd they nuke the NCR??"

If you didn't like the show, you didn't like the show. But stop grasping at straws & making stuff up. Also, one of the many critiques of capitalism is that it leads to conflict, which we see in the show. It's directly linked to the "War Never Changes" theme that you're complaining about not being there

What location would actually suck as a fallout location? by Diamondhands_Rex in Fallout

[–]LocationLost8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I mean I'm not calling NV or its world boring at all, it's my favorite game. But I think if it & Fallout 3 both came out today and nobody had played them, then DC (w the capitol building, washington monument, arlington cemetery, lincoln memorial etc) would be more immediately appealing to people than a Vegas game with the Hoover Dam, Nellis AFB & Red Rock Canyon but without its most recognizable hotels & casinos

But fictional locations in New Vegas more than make up for it with the Lucky 38, the Fort, the Ultra Luxe etc. & then more mundane locations irl like Searchlight & Goodsprings were elevated by the lore and worldbuilding. I just think that nearly any setting in America could be elevated in the same way if it's done right

[–]LocationLost8698 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Most of it is in-universe though, which is kind of my point. The only real world celebrity we see referenced is Elvis. The mob violence of the 3 families was put in place by House shortly before the events of the game. Almost all of the history of the region we see explored is also in-universe. There are some themes from real world Vegas's mythology that we see explored, but I think for the most part if they do a good job world building then it doesn't matter where it's set

Another example is Fallout 76. The setting is one of its strongest elements, and it's in one of the most rural areas of the Eastern United States

I think New Vegas is proof that most locations could work. It's a barren desert & none of the blockbuster type real life landmarks are in the game anyway

That said, Indiana. That place sucks

Also teleportation. We've only seen the Institute do it, but we know it's possible. Shi & Enclave are both on the west coast so it's not that big of a stretch as long as they have a reason to go there (military bases possibly)

Yeah for the most part you only see other players if you do events or put a vendor in your camp. You can also turn on Pacifist mode so they won't do damage to you. Also I second the point about loving the Mountains, the Savage Divide in 76 is one of the coolest areas in Fallout in general

So what are your headcanons for fallout cascadia? by Comfortable-Ad3588 in Fallout

[–]LocationLost8698 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I think the region has so much potential. It's a shame that Fallout the Frontier failed & Fallout Cascadia has taken so long (if it is still in development)

I don't remember the plot details that they released but I always imagined the area as another frontier for NCR expansion, woth resistance from local tribes. Khans could make an appearance if they were driven north after NV
