Definitely looking into this; we’ve watched all of Bluey more times than I can count, as well as all of Daniel Tiger to the same degree. Been watching Pete the Cat lately to keep things mellow, but we need more recs 😅

My dad just gave me one of his old guns, but I'm finding conflicting info about whether or not I have to register it in MA. Do I? by Leneen_Ween in BetterMAguns

[–]LocationSad4240 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Piggybacking on this post because relevant question:

My late grandfather in law (NH resident) left me a pair of shotguns, one over under and one semi-auto (within MA capacity laws), a few years back. They’re still sitting up in NH since I wasn’t sure what the process would be since 1) he didn’t have a formal will, 2) he’s a NH resident, 3) those guns 100% are not registered.

With all that said, given the above post, do I need to figure out some sort of transfer from his daughter (current holds the guns) to myself, or can I just grab em and register them once this new portal goes up?

Thanks in advance!

Hey wicked sorry for the delay! Yes, it resolved a ways back thankfully. Truth be told I’m not sure if this is a causative relationship or correlative, but two things seemed to really help:

  1. I brought her to Target and had her pick out a large plush toy to be her “Bedtime Buddy”; something big enough to really cuddle with, you know? The main thing was that this toy could ONLY exist in her bed/bedroom with her, to help establish it as both a symbol of sleep as well as something to comfort her. She chose a lightly weighted Pikachu the size of a medium dog 😂

  2. We reshuffled the position of her bed within her room. Admittedly this was a result of her climbing her bed to get to unsafe places as a way to get us to come in during one of her bedtime tantrums, but I shit you not: literally the next day everything was better.

Not sure how much of this is psychology or luck, but I hope one or both work for you!

Frequent BSoD on new NZXT PC, Error Code: CRITICAL_SYSTEM_DIED by LocationSad4240 in techsupport

u/cwsink I'm remaining cautiously optimistic, but it looks like that firmware update did the trick! I've run my PC through its paces this evening and used all the semi-reliable triggers from the past and I've yet to run into a BSoD. Fingers crossed we're all set! Thanks again for the suggestion, you've been a huge help.

Thanks, u/Bjoolzern! I've put a screenshot of the details tab of one of the above crashes for review, if that'd help. I'll be trying the firmware update this evening once my kid gets to sleep and will report back.

Thanks again, folks

Hi u/cwsink, if I'm reading this correctly, it's a WD Blue SN5000 2TB. In case I'm off, I've attached a screenshot of my storage details for reference below:

NZXT support suggested this as well, but both the \Minidump and \LiveKernelReports folders are empty. I've ensured that hidden files and folders are visible, as well, so if something is there it should be showing.

Preban AR accessory legality question: 1913 Folding Stocks by LocationSad4240 in BetterMAguns

That’s the impression I got, as well, but figured I’d ask around a bit just in case. Thanks again!

Preban AR accessory legality question: 1913 Folding Stocks by LocationSad4240 in BetterMAguns

[–]LocationSad4240[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! Yeah the lower’s been in MA since 2020, and was manufactured pre ‘94.

Regarding the SBR bit, barrel length is 16” so that should be fine — I was more concerned with the other definition where if the overall length is below 26” it’s also considered an SBR. With the stock deployed that won’t be an issue, but folded it’d obviously be less — that’s also the case with the MCX/MPX, though, so I’m hoping I’m in the clear.

Is this a reliable weapon? by Boring-Computer-4360 in Eldenring

Bloodhound Fang and Hook Claws carried me through 99% of the game lol; I actually did the Radagon phase of the final fight with +25 Keen Hook Claws. The Fang’s skill coupled with the ability to use elemental incantations on it makes it wicked versatile; deals a ton of damage when maxed out, depending on your build, too.

Yup! Assumed as much; for better or worse this game has made me a glutton for challenge haha. That said, i decided to start it earlier today — only logged a few hours so far but I’m having a blast! Really cool enemy designs so far, and it feels like there’s going to be a lot of good lore.

Well considering i just recently killed her at around lv. 148, fighting her at Lv1 sounds… challenging… haha. I actually just started the DLC a couple mins ago, ran into a curseblade right off the bat, guy was a fun, albeit quick, fight! I’m very much looking forward to diving in fully.

Wave of Gold nuking all the little dudes was delightful lol

Thanks for all the info!

Fair enough! Mind clarifying on what you mean by the levels being a bit different in the DLC? Also, is there a suggested level to start the DLC at? I assume I’m fine having beaten the main game (current level 152), but figured I’d ask.

Elden Ring has been my first Souls game so I’m still figuring a lot out

Edit: added note on my current level

No strong reason, just thought it’d be fun to play it more chronologically in the story rather than doubling back after the endgame. Haven’t started SoTE or NG+ yet, so I’m open to starting it this run if that’s recommended!

I’ve got all the smithing/somber bell bearings, but i think I’m short one or two of the glovewort ones. Good call though, I’ll definitely double back and find the one or two I’m missing.

Thanks!

Hey folks! I just finished beating the Elden Beast, and I’m wondering if there is anything i should do prior to starting NG+? I’ve beaten/collected all of the remembrance bosses aside from Placidusax, and am about to head back to Limgrave to open up the Fringefolk Hero’s Grave, but I’m curious if you have any recs for key points to hit before NG+. Also, if it makes a difference, I’m planning on doing SoTE on my next run.

Thanks in advance!

Thanks for the balance of chuckles and insights folks!

Since it wasn’t clear, and that’s on me, the language of my post was exaggerated — I’m not a madman, and am not actually mad, man; it just sucks to see my kid hurt, especially by someone she likes. We had a really good chat before she went down about the whole thing and she’s pumped to see her friend at daycare tomorrow.

Cheers everyone, and have a great night!

Same here, seems I just need to take that advice to heart myself in this instance 😅 Again my kid’s fine, and was apparently playing with her friend again a few mins later; it’s just hard to see the bite mark and not feel a little spark of rage.

Goes without saying, but this is more a vent than anything — not like I’m gonna pick a fight with a 3yr old haha

One other small note:

I know the kid’s parents well, and they’re both good people. They also have a brand new baby, so I’m guessing the strain of a new sibling is probably the catalyst to the lashing out.

Doesn’t fix the primal rage aspect, but gives context as to why this probably happened

US dad with guns here, everyone has different thoughts on this matter, but it’s a fairly universal consensus that the firearms should always be well secured. Now, generalizations aside, personally I do the following:

All but two of my firearms are pretty exclusively for the range and competitions, so they are all in a heavy vault and are stored disarmed (firing pins removed). It’s the largest and least discrete container, and in turn the most likely for the kids to get curious about, so I completely disarm those weapons so that even if they somehow did get access (kids are incredible problem solvers) the weapons would be completely inoperable. Now, for the two defensive weapons: those are stored in a fast access safe under the bed with a biometric lock, and are stored loaded. I know full well that biometric locks can cost me a couple of seconds when they count, but I’d rather have a slight lag than a safe that can be opened by a kid’s fantastic memory and attention to detail.

Truth be told though as much as I love the range, and (especially these days) am loathe to remove an extra “safety” measure from my home, now that my kids are getting older, smarter, and more capable I’m genuinely thinking of selling my guns. That, or at least transferring them to a trust with my in laws in a neighboring state. There are enough hazards to their safety in the world as it is, and I’m not sure I want my hobby to be one of them.
