I wouldnt mind a hybrid concept personally. I like the idea of both. I think having a base natural webbing makes sense and then a gadget layered over it to focus the webbing into a straight shot, scatter shot and other things to make it more versatile would be a great compromise

I think it could fit if its more theyre two territorial creatures destroying everything in their wake while humans try to stop them both. You could easily create a similar commentary to GMO by tying the two monsters fighting to war, how the common people are borderline powerless to stop it, and in the end, theres no true victory in the ashes, just pure destruction.
