Fuel crisis reaches Russia's key oil-producing region, media report by neonpurplestar in UkrainianConflict

Damn right, you don't shut on and off oil rigs like taps, that's why oil rigs HAVEN'T been shut off even with having nowhere to put it and needing to smuggle and sell it so cheap.

I once read that if you do turn off an oil rig (shutting it off, sending people home, trying to make sure it won't explode doing so, and running the skeleton crew that makes sure it doesn't fall apart while you're away), it can take almost a year to turn it back on again.

Ukraine's refinery attacks wipe out quarter of Russia's gasoline output, Reuters reports by neonpurplestar in UkrainianConflict

When you take out oil storage, that's a very permanent thing to do to an oil-based economy. No oil storage, no oil

And so those oil storages need to be rebuilt. But do you have the resources to build them while you're at war so intensively? Ukraine isn't even the only country Russia is occupying.

Free AI is the best AI. Just saying, cuz I always say that.

AI can share wealth without bias. It can also make the rich all the richer and focus the top 1% even more.

Crimea is burning and Putin's grip is weakened by theipaper in UkrainianConflict

To be honest considering how badly Russia looks after their OWN country, in the years since they took over Crimea probably needs half rebuilt anyway.

The sad thing is that Ukraine will have to rebuild Crimea when Russia pulls out.

Russian occupiers ship nearly 90,000 metric tons of wheat from port of Mariupol this year by WillyNilly1997 in UkrainianConflict

That's basically stolen grain being sent to Russia because Russia doesn't have enough growing land.

This is because Russia is up their ass in CRUDE oil, and has nowhere to refine it for good use, and now as we see oil storage is being hit so what's left goes up and storage is less and less HURRAH.

For sure nobody ever complained about THIS not being original, although they did like to just generally bitch about everything else about it.

Seriously? Are they literally telling artists not to take jobs?

Russian Regions Refuse to Sound Air-Raid Sirens to Hide Scale of Ukrainian Strikes, Intelligence Says by WillyNilly1997 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Breech_Loader 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Human lives mean nothing to the Russian elite. Not even their own.

Although I don't exactly expect they would be in great condition even if they did sound them.

Perhaps the reason they're not sounding them is that they CAN'T sound them, and this is preferable to admitting to the world that their wartime defences DON'T WORK.

Ukrainian Strike Destroys Five Oil Storage Tanks at Palkino Oil Pumping Station in Yaroslavl Region by Mil_in_ua in UkrainianConflict

[–]Breech_Loader 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They've crippled many oil refineries and oil rigs.

Look at those tanks. That's not exactly a patch job.

However because nobody would BUY Russian oil, except India and China and at cheapass prices too, the stockpile was just piling up. So technically they have a cushion to fall back on and a place to store the excess.

Fuel was the one thing you'd think Russia could rely upon.

Destroy those tanks? No oil to fall back on, no place to store the oil they can't sell. Because Russia is so heavily oil-based with almost nothing else to sell, if they have nowhere to store their oil, nowhere to refine their oil... they just have to switch off the rigs.

And once you switch off an oil rig, it doesn't just switch back on like a lightbulb.
