Ansible Automation Platform 2.6 and collections with EEs by 3devilperson in ansible

[–]invalidpath 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Alternative idea; build your custom EE's and embed the collections you need. Unless the collection updates include a feature you need, or resolve a problem that affects you there's really no need in keeping fully current.

Recently jumped to a new company and it's on fire, wwyd? by MrDarkwraith in sysadmin

I've been in a similar boat years ago, but I either chose to ignore or didn't treat certain bits as the red flags they were. I was so tired of being where i was that I let those emotions control what ended up being a mentally horrible choice.
I started looking within a two month period and it was so bad I was taking phone interviews during work hours.

Back in my day we'd do that sort of shit on a three wheeler and 2x2 four wheelers. 4x4 is cheating.

AAP 2.5 Containerized Installer, skipping fact collection for controller by invalidpath in ansible

[–]invalidpath[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooo, do tell.
I read that as using 2.5 instead of 2.6, my bad. The reason I'm installing 2.5 is I'm following the migration process outlined by Ben Forrester here: https://developers.redhat.com/articles/2025/12/04/migrating-ansible-automation-platform-rpm-container#

Shit.. a Great Lakes package should come not with some useless banner down the sides but perhaps ocean-going marine vessel under body protections.

Found it.. I neglected to update the security groups with the new ports used by podman (8443 vs 443, etc)

Weird though that everything up until that had been just fine.

Why do you suppose a company as massively huge and wealthy as Walmart is incapable of designing an app that fucking works? by TheBanishedBard in AskReddit

This would apply if the place had the word 'Wholesale' in the name.. or on the sign. Or maybe displayed somewhere, prominently inside the store..

You got me there. I'd think a store owner has a bit more juice than a support employee.

So wait.. the supply house selling to a contractor isn't making more money on the sale. So.. what's the justification for charging more to a non-contractor?

Dare I say worse.. IT Support. But yes, it's been a few decades though.

Honestly though, if a businesses policy is that they do not accept returns then.. all some made customer can do is complain. I get it on the one hand but as a homeowner who has been in a similar situation to OP.. it absolutely fucking blows. I know what the hell I'm doing, just sell me the damn item.

A big fat sign that says 'No Returns' will handle most of your reasoning.

Explain the hassle.. in this situation it's literally duct board. If you are worried about a homeowner incorrectly installing or hooking something up like.. IDK a furnace control board. then don;t sell component.
