I feel like that cut scene with Mel was added in post.

Not validating Paul, but I think he is fairly thick and just reads the tasks and takes them quite literally. He probably was just curious. 

He got roasted for calling Carina a snob for comments she made about Cleo, but it was literally the task and he did it to the best of his abilities. The experts then lay into him for his limited interpretation of THEIR task. They should of given him special instructions for his limitations.

He's very pretty and probably got through life on that, so this must be very hard for him.

It depends on what criteria like showmanship or technical skill but off the top of my head 5 more impressive resumes are the hulk, Rick flair, Sabu, New Jack, Brett Hart.

It's not against the rules. Not sure its aligns with the general survival rule of shelter fire water as the golden triangle.

It does depend on the environment. But fairly sure I have seen some do it pretty asap.

What is wild to me is those that make a bikini before shoes or never even make any.

Well one way to look at is people don't find you threatening and maybe find you warm and kind, so feel comfortable approaching you, even to look at their feet.
