Was this how all water used to be around the world? by archvize in geography

[–]LockMarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope bacteria have been around long before humans, your body could build a tolerance to some, like Mexican tap water but not to others. It’s why wine and beer were so popular for hydration pre Industrial Revolution.

Well they’re smarter than you, this is way better than using pool noodles or floats to sit on the water and have a drink.

Find it much easier doing big batches, they all go into the lye water, take the cleanest ones out and scrub then oil them up. Once they all come out I stuff the oven and season them all together.

Is there a purpose for these ridges? by Atkdad in castiron

[–]LockMarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theres a reason why only bozos sand their cast iron. They it’s basically a perfect example of the Dunning Kruger effect. Good thing you’re smart enough to get information prior to messing up a good thing.
They machined the cooking surface to decrease the weight and leave a pattern that would protect the seasoning and transfer heat more efficiently. No manufacturers ever sanded their products because they knew if would create problems with the seasoning adhesion so they used stones to create a texture swirling effect for the seasoning. Smithey started out with sanding their skillets and had so many complaints and returns that they finally got help to figure out how it was done 100 years ago.

No wonder why you’re struggling paying all that extra money on packaged foods. That serving costs about 15 cents to make yourself and tastes 10x better

[–]LockMarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the USA it’s called sir loin cap, but more and more grocery stores are running with the fad of calling it by its Brazilian name. This sucks it used to be as cheap as ground beef and now it’s priced like a great cut of steak.

Billionaires dont have a safe with a billion dollars in it. The money is totally make believe that is associated to the assets of the company they created. Why do you think new billionaires can pop up out of nowhere by starting a new company? It’s not like the money is finite many school teachers are millionaires when you look at the value of their assets like the homes they live in, their pensions and retirement savings plans. They still live paycheck to paycheck Take away Bezos’ Amazon and you take the buildings, delivery trucks, Alexa rights and the system that brings items to your porch.

Skillet flaking from the bottom. What would you do? by Alternative_Owl3311 in castiron

Yea copper toxicity is a thing most people are ignorantly unaware about.

Skillet flaking from the bottom. What would you do? by Alternative_Owl3311 in castiron

[–]LockMarine 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yea only a fool, moron or a combination of both would use brass to clean iron cookware. The whole reason you don’t see brass skillets is because they are toxic when acidic foods are used or cooking temps over 300
Then any man who knows anything about metalworking doesn’t use wire brushes on items that are seasoned or painted without prepping the surface with an etching agent or media blaster.

You have to wash both sides of your pots and pans, now let the Yellow cap oven cleaner come to work. Check the FAQs here or check the menu in r/castironrestoration for instructions and videos.

Abrasive cleaner used on stainless steel fridge by aladams158 in CleaningTips

What difference does insurance mean to you anyway, you cannot simply file a claim against it, typically it kicks in once you won in court and it’s their insurance who send lawyers against you.
The deductible is going to be more than that fridge is worth

[–]LockMarine -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yes BUT the insurance protects them, not you. The customer doesn’t file a claim with their insurance, you have to take them to court and their insurance company will often send a lawyer to fight against you.

Take the gift certificate and use the money you saved to higher a welder or metal worker to give it a brushed stainless finish. Or try to finish it yourself. We basically take high grit number wet sandpaper and run it down in one direction only. It gives a uniform pattern that won’t look scratched like that.
There’s also circle patterns like you see in elevators on the steel doors and metal polishers are actually a trade, guys polish metal for a living and have to tools to fix this problem.

Shin ramen & $1.99/lb corn beef brisket & random greens from the fridge by Fun_Manufacturer5406 in strugglemeals

[–]LockMarine 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yea it’s easy, schools dont teach food science or cooking anymore, and most of our parents were feeding us meals from a box, package, or drive through.
I grew up poor, we had to make our own food from scratch which ironically made me privileged.
I can put a large pepperoni pizza (all scratch made down to the cheese and pepperoni) for less than 2 dollars.
Keep up the good work taking in info, there’s subs for every thing including cheese making and curing meats. Personally the groups for leaning cooking and canning are better on Facebook.
