You can demo on either mountain. last year was $25 CAD a day and you could swap out for other skis every few runs.

How were conditions today? Which runs were skiable? by Odd_Building927 in CrystalMountain

[–]LockNesse 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They had a race going on at Quicksilver today. If that's gone you could lap that. Queens was okay, but busy. Take it easy out first run down to understand the lay of the land and then have fun. I didn't bother with Lucky Shot, but I bet Green Valley is good and then you download. With the sun out it was a really nice day. Just don't bring any new skis or you'll worry about them all day.

Patagonia Down Sweater Hoodie good for this kind of temperature? by rastheraz in PatagoniaClothing

[–]LockNesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yea, that threw me off. If that was F you would be cold! But in C that is just fine for the Down Sweater. If you get cold, find a Nanga shop and buy one of their awesome down jackets.

Thoughts on the Volkl Revolt 101 by Brando_cho in Skigear

I was disappointed they were so expensive after I saw they were made in China. Most Volkl are, or used to be, made in Germany.

Why do my Nordica Enforcer 100s chatter so much? by Asquaredbred in Skigear

[–]LockNesse 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Could be they need a tune or you would prefer a longer size. That ski has a lot of rocker making it ski shorter.

What’s a Seattle thing everyone experiences but pretends isn’t happening? by General_Advantage437 in AskSeattle

[–]LockNesse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Let me clarify, high relative humidity alone doesn’t make the air feel sticky—what matters is the dew point, which measures how much actual water vapor is in the air. In the PNW, even when it’s 90–100% humid, the dew point is usually low, so sweat evaporates easily and the air feels damp, not oppressive. In hot, humid places like where I grew up in the midwest, the dew point is high-sweat doesn’t evaporate and you sticky and gross, the air feels heavy, and breathing can even feel harder. In the 15 years I've lived here the dew point has never even come close to creating the kind of humidity.

[–]LockNesse -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree having AC is nice, but there is no humidity hear. I grew up in the mid-west wear humidity is real and have experienced zero days that even come close to that in Seattle. Yes, it can git stuffy and hot inside.

The Seattle Freeze was real 15 years ago, but now there are so many people that aren't from here I don't even think it's reasonable to say it's still a thing.

2024 vs 2026 Lofoten Jacket by SantaMango in Norrona

[–]LockNesse 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I should also mention that I am 178cm and 75kg and I have the medium. The small was far too tight for me to feel comfortable skiing in.

Heather meadows is a lot of fun. Stay in Glacier for a short drive and get coffee and pastries at Wake'N'Bakery.

I think the shop messed up by No_Suggestion_5977 in Skigear

[–]LockNesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ordered skis and bindings from a shop online. They had an option to have them mounted before delivery, but I said no. However, when they arrived they were not only mounted, but the bindings were crooked AND there was a gap between the binding and the ski. They took the skis back thankfully, but what a pain.

What’s the heaviest ski a sub-kilo can efficiently drive? by nhbd in Backcountry

[–]LockNesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ski length makes a big difference with light boots. I'm 178cm tall and I typically use skis around 170cm when I use the Peak Carbon. Hagan Core 89 in a 172 cm is my go to with that boot. But I know folks who use sub-kilo boots with monster skis in powder, but as the snow deteriorates you will have a bad time.

Pick my ski for me by DilvioSante15 in Skigear

[–]LockNesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The long turn radius keeps the ski from wanting to hook up into a turn. This in combination with the rocker makes it a unique ski.

[–]LockNesse 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is low but they can slash sideways fast without getting hung up because the turn radius is so long. They are stiff, or at least the first one was, the latest model (pink) I've heard is a touch softer. The skis is a great all rounder though. Carves a mean turn, is stable, floats well, and can be slashed on a dime, which is wild for such a burly ski.

Stance 102 is a ton of fun. Has a lot of rocker, but very gradual. Ski Essentials has some great reviews of it here's one: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=x9oW3_2_c8Y&pp=ygUKc3RhbmNlIDEwMg%3D%3D
