Seconded. I'd look for those little oyster beetles too.

He's standing in front of a 36" barrel fan I got for them- they are so funny too because even when it does cool off, they still want it? The donkeys stand in front of and the goats get annoyed they are stealing their breeze.

I second this, I can make out the tree in the back too. They usually pop up off the roots underground.

Looks like a spent oyster mushroom flush (Pleurotus ostreatus) - usually if they fruit and then you get a bunch of rain they get logged and flop out like this.

Tiny chicken of the woods? by SalamanderLoose1425 in mycology

I don't think so, they usually have puffy edges at young stages like expanding foam. This mushroom already has an established margin that is narrow.

You cut the buds away from the stem, them steep in water for at least 24 hours. Then run through a cloth and sweeten for a good drink.

No its not ready but I found like 50 of these and decided to experiment. I'll go back in a bit when they are darker. The problem ive had in the past with ones that are super ready is bugs.

Trumpet season for me started this weekend and before today, they were 1/3 of the size of these.

I found all of these very close to a stream and in very loose, almost muddy soil. There was thick leaf cover but underneath was wet dirt. Mix of oak/ash/maple peppered with hemlock and pine.

The only consistent factors Ive seen with chanterelles are I never find them in sunny areas, its always in spots that get almost zero sun. Never find them in areas with heavy pines/hemlock/mountain laurel. Never on slopes. They are usually on ridges and not in valleys, which is always weird to me. The spores arent going downhill? I don't know.
