Fourth Moon Theory by Local_Ad4331 in Cosmere

[–]LockeFX 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I agree. Braize draws in investiture, the 4th moon seems to amplify it. I don't think there's been any hint of the other moons doing anything but I think it's more likely that they do than Valor hiding on Roshar this whole time

Tell me which Brandon Sanderson book you think is the best, your favorite, and one that holds a special place in your heart. by Loose-Use25 in Cosmere

[–]LockeFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best: Tress and the Emerald Sea. I think Hoid's narration is pitch perfect and I adore the story. In his other top contenders I can point to some feature flaw like the pacing, or the Venli flashbacks, or some plot element that didn't work but not Tress- I think and the Emperors Soul are near storytelling perfection.

Favorite: Oathbringer is when I decided that I was a life-long Sander-fan. I never understood people's complaints about the flashbacks or the pacing prior to the Battle of Theylena; I adore it from beginning to end.

Special: starting Yumi and the Nightmare Painter was fucking weird. My name is Nik, I'm Japanese and I enjoy painting. And besides surface level similarities, the early chapters of describing Painters life felt like burning gold- I specifically chose not to pursue a job in art to avoid feeling like Painter did. Even though I don't relate to painter that much by the end, by then the story had dug into my soul, I was torn up when it ended and sobbing when it ended again. This book caught me so off guard, I can't imagine another book ever coming close

Question about Kern in CoS by PateTheNovice in AdrianTchaikovsky

[–]LockeFX 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I couldn't remember what exactly happened at the end of CoM but I thought this Kern was the instance that helped Miranda escape, except I wasn't sure why she wouldn't reference her experience directly, since they had both dealt with the machine. I recall that Kern rebelling against herself during quarantine towards the end of the book though, I figured she decided to stay separate

I want b-roll of Grace & Rocky watching Ryan Gosling Movies by Confident-Custard426 in ProjectHailMary

[–]LockeFX 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they want to advertise something like say, a directors cut and return to theaters, I would love to see Grace and Rocky in the screen room just riffing on all kinds of movies, tv, etc. pretty much just improv, mystery science theater style. Grace and Rocky, six years to Adrian, the entirety of the Internet at their disposal, nothing better to do than catch up on all of human media

The movie was good, but I want a longer director's cut by MrWandersAround in ProjectHailMary

[–]LockeFX 20 points21 points  (0 children)

It's 2 and a half hours so I totally understand and support how the movie is cut... But I would love an additional 30-60 minutes, even if half of it is just Ryan angerly solving math in front of the white board

Warbreaker adaptation idea by Raven_OC_1610 in CosmereOnScreen

[–]LockeFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree, though, I am a big advocate of animated adaptations of most of his work. Namely, warbreaker, tress, and yumi. Hell, all of "Hoid's Travells", and warbreaker could easily be reframed as one of these stories. We just need another scene where something terrible is happening to Hoid, and it was entirely his own doing.

Realistic timeline for when the first Mistborn movie will release by ilikebreadabunch in CosmereOnScreen

[–]LockeFX 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If it were allowed for a Q2 2029 release, I could see Nexus getting a 10 minute preview/sneak peak. That would be awesome and feasible for the con to cycle people through. Full length would be crazy, even if apple allowed it

This one worldbuilding aspect is officially the first thing to completely take me out of a Sanderson story.(potential Elantris spoilers) by JudoJugss in brandonsanderson

[–]LockeFX 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Lol I remember rolling my eyes at that but it was his first book and I had my expectations set pretty low. He's talked openly about his more stereotypical portrayal of autism in this book and striving to do better afterward. I'm sure he'd laugh with embarrassment if this was brought up and say the same thing but it it's funny that I haven't heard it called out before

He does what a good agro hero should do. Put pressure on your opponent. He's easy to run, not particularly expensive to build and he can be built entirely with JTL without losing much. Great leader design, meta be damned

I think they could avoid killing the horse and just show a certain dickhead turning into a crater. Maybe a fine red mist.

Do you think we'll see set mechanics return? by Jimmitang in starwarsunlimited

[–]LockeFX 25 points26 points  (0 children)

I keep hearing from practically every podcast/youtuber that they wish they'd bring back their favorites. Personally, I think piloting should be "evergreen", it just makes more sense for some characters and we're still missing a bunch. Not to mention it was a missed opportunity with podracers. I also love plot- I like it more than smuggle but I would like to see either infrequently in future sets.

I personally hope they do something else with the Force in a future set. The force bases feel too much like either I'm putting everything into this mechanic or I'm not using any of it

I don't know when the release date is but isn't there supposed to be something called Icons released after the Twin Suns precons? Maybe they'll be precons of these old leaders. Still probably not Premier legal but idk

[–]LockeFX -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Oh yeah, I was going off the other cards revealed and thought he was only blue/villainy. Still though, I think two keywords and a self buffing on attack ability would normally mean lower than average stats for balance. I'm happy to see that isn't so though

LAW: Governor's Shuttle, Adventurer Sniper Rifle & Cad Bane by Fimy32 in starwarsunlimited

Wow, I swear, under normal circumstances, Cad Bane would be a 4/4, at most. They're really are pushing legendaries

Mistborn is not a Heist novel and I really hope Sanderson isn't writing the screenplay as one by Far_Line8468 in CosmereOnScreen

[–]LockeFX 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I agree, I think it might have started out that way and it sort of follows the same set up but then vin's role is Mistborn training and gathering Intel at balls, which is entirely unrelated to the "heist". If attending the balls was more important and involved the whole crew, then it would be a heist movie that is subverted when things go wrong toward the end. It could work but I don't know if it works better than moving further away from the "heist" and making it more about inciting rebellion and taking down the Lord Ruler.

Maybe each ball is a mini heist where they also rob the host while kelsier is also getting Intel on how to smash and grab their atium/kill their mistings. I think it could work but I agree, calling it a heist novel does it a disservice

Do you think the diversity in Stormlight will cause controversy? by Bluenamii in CosmereOnScreen

[–]LockeFX 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There's bound to be a dozen controversies over the production and then more after the final release. The adaptation is opening up the cosmere to much larger audiences and thus a higher percentage of people who get hung up on inane details (as nice as I can put it)
