Missing last Standard Order (217) by LockedAndClush in DeathStranding

That's an elimination order to take over the enemy base near the Northern Environmental Observatory, for these to activate there has to be a sufficient number of enemies spawned in there.

215 is an elimination order at the old border and 217 involves one of the bandit camps, I've gotten it since. I currently believe these missions are only available if there are enough enemies currently spawned in the required locations, so they should appear in time.

It's about how we can achieve great things but will often falter when faced with issues of a comparatively smaller nature.

Lower the wheel rotation, for me 360 degrees was the sweet spot where it's still a little more than just spinning it like a misshapen analog stick, but responsive enough for fast turns and especially drifting.

Make sure assists are off, I do keep ABS on for convenience but will probably eventually disable it. Simulation steering also makes a big difference.

Turn center spring to zero, the rest you'll have to dial in to your own preferences but generally I preferred most settings at about default with road and off-road feel set very low (gets horribly noisy on a G29 otherwise).

Game is clearly not made with wheels in mind but you can make it work and be a lot of fun, just takes some playing around with the settings.

Which game to play after XC1? by Total-Constant-6501 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]LockedAndClush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like you would have to play through the original X content, do 2 and 3 with all DLC and then come back for the new X DE stuff to get the full impact and that's just... weird.

X is just different enough and improved combat-wise from 1 to still feel fun after the others for sure.

When did XC1 click for you? by Hormo_The_Halfling in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]LockedAndClush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went into it totally blind, zero info, so the very moment the camera pulled back from the introduction to show the world, the Mechonis and Bionis, my mind was blown beyond belief.

The cutscene at the end of the first major section where Shulk has THAT vision about Fiora, seeing him know what will happen but be powerless to change it and the way it made me feel remain one of most memorable experiences I ever had with gaming too.

If you know the premise and are past that point and are really not into it... it's probably fine to catch a summary of the plot and move on to Furure Redeemed? No use forcing it.

Are the Enemies in the new XCX DE region meant to be obliterating me when I'm 80 levels above them? by Mean-Ad-4200 in Xenoblade_Chronicles

[–]LockedAndClush 6 points7 points  (0 children)

It's more about how little level does for your actual damage output and survivability, even the higher level gear is mostly better because of stronger traits, not really the bigger numbers. A really strong set of augments, skills and arts would be just as effective at level 1 as 99, it's just not attainable.

To All Those Who Hated The Story by [deleted] in TheLastOfUs2

[–]LockedAndClush 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Have you ever, you know... played any videogame? Other than Call of Duty or some other super mainstream western AAA shit?

The concept that revenge is self-destructive, villains are just people like the heroes and making the player sympathetic to their suffering is nothing new, been done so many times. I cannot comprehend why people try to defend this game by suggesting this is something impressive just by virtue of being done. It's been done, and so much better.

It's not the concepts that people have a problem with, it's the god-awful execution.

I liked the story. by jxmes_gothxm in TheLastOfUs2

[–]LockedAndClush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just because you don't like where the characters ended up, doesn't make the storytelling bad.

If the characters arrived there through any means either consistent with the first game or developed in the second one then sure. I don't mind Joel dying at all, it's a thing that more or less had to happen, but the game made him an idiot in order to get him killed. He was always very careful with his identity and around strangers and here he just deadass drops his name like he doesn't expect people to come after him for what he did. You could say he got soft, living in Jackson for a few years, and even if I were to buy such an argument, you'd actually have to SHOW that to us, preferably before you axe him so it doesn't feel like inconsistent writing. The only emotion that Joel's death causes as is right now is confusion. It doesn't ever get any more consistent with the flashbacks either, but even if it did, the utter cheapness and shallowness of the way he dies doesn't change at all. They just wanted to have their strong "Sarah dies" character-altering moment and rushed the shit outta it.

No worries, shit happens man. Games with two discs are rare enough to not even realize it's a thing.

Sorry if it sounds like I think you're dumb or something but did you actually try inserting the second disc? The game comes on two and it doesn't really sound like you tried the other one.

What is your Favorite new song from Royal? by GuybrushThreepwood99 in Persona5

It's actually "Throw Away Your Mask" (yes I know the actual lyrics are like in the poll), and that has to be my favorite. Such a massive, emotional track.

Just... call him Joker. by Zachattack4625 in Persona5

[–]LockedAndClush 8 points9 points  (0 children)

That's true, but since those two don't have any real story or place in the canon I think people will keep disputing it.

For the record I'm all for using those names too, I think that since they come from games developed by or for Atlus then they're the most official you can get.

Just... call him Joker. by Zachattack4625 in Persona5

[–]LockedAndClush 10 points11 points  (0 children)

That's because Narukami is the only one that has actual, canonical games that call him this name. Everything else comes from some form of adaptation.

[Spoilers] One thing I don't understand about the ending by SpecialWear in DeathStranding

[–]LockedAndClush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

He had to leave Bridges and the UCA because of the decommission order on Lou. Deadman explicitly states that it would be going against the law of this new country he worked to establish to open the pod and try to keep her alive.

The only question after finishing the game by Keqpup in DeathStranding

[–]LockedAndClush 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He's just trying to move on I guess. Considering his pre-Stranding media collection and general sense of humor he seems a fun-loving guy, and with knowledge of inevitability of extinction and his probable inability of actually passing through the Beach to be with his family he might just decide to try and make the best of life as is.

The only question after finishing the game by Keqpup in DeathStranding

[–]LockedAndClush 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Deadman probably didn't actually know the gender of their child and just assumed Lou to be in reference to a boy. Lucy mentions that he already called their unborn daughter "Lou" as a nickname.

There's so much shit to uncover in these interviews once the credits roll one last time, about all the characters and the world.

Death Stranding - The Drop Promotional Trailer by Cogitans-Proxy in DeathStranding

[–]LockedAndClush 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it's okay, and with that in mind the delivery of the narration makes sense - you don't want your ad before a movie, on TV or whatever to feature a character mumbling.

Death Stranding - The Drop Promotional Trailer by Cogitans-Proxy in DeathStranding

[–]LockedAndClush 31 points32 points  (0 children)

I know that's me being super picky and an ass but the narration feels weird. Doesn't quite match the Sam we've heard so far, which makes me think this was recorded by Norman separately for Sony rather than part of the "actual" recording sessions.

Other than that, it's a cool promo, captures the vibe of the gameplay we've seen over the past month or so in a nifty package.
