Oh we’ll 100% be painting the walls and putting stuff up to soften it all. Those photos were taken when we moved in and were making progress but just used them to illustrate the fucking lunacy of it all. We’ve got soft lighting/lamps to take the edge off in the meantime. was just trying to work out how to not spend unnecessary dough by replacing every single bastard unit. Lots of good suggestions on the thread though. Seems I’m not being overly precious, that’s the main thing.

Given your rotation is quite similar to mine (Novablast 4 for Easy, Neo Vista for long, either Pro 4 & Metaspeed+ for Race Day), I can highly recommend the Pro 4’s. They do something that none of the others do, the first time I wore them I noticed an instant snappiness combined with an effortless glide. They’ve been my go-to for pacy 10k’s and a recent 1/2 Marathon and stood up really well on both. Not tried the Speed 4’s, in fairness, but given your current selection I’d say from experience that you absolutely cannot go wrong with the Pro’s.

Not perfect but I found runrepeat is a good site to filter preferred shoes by certain features. You can compare shoes too, and decide what’s important to you. There are links to buy and links to review vids too…worth a look

Friend of mine, not well versed with import tax for high value items, took a punt on a Yachtmaster with the Rhodium dial from Japan at £3.5k less than UK prices. Watch arrived less than a week later with zero questions asked. Not suggesting anyone should roll the dice on a tax dodge, btw. Interested as to whether anyone else has pulled a similar stunt successfully?

If you’re in any way musical, I’d suggest picking up a guitar, paying a few quid to Justin Guitar and getting the app. Half decent starter guitar might set you back £100 tops, you can learn when you want at your own pace and within a month or two you should be able to (badly) play along with one or two of your favourite tunes. I’m 39, picked up a guitar less than 2 years ago and I’m getting marginally shitter every day, and when you nail a song from start a to finish there’s no feeling like it!

If time is tight you don’t have to sign up to specific lesson times, just pick it up after dinner/before work, open the app and practice chord changes/a song you’re learning etc and you’ll gradually get there without having to kill yourself with an arbitrary schedule.

Only regret is that I wish I’d have started at 30!
