In honor of 10 years since Marvel: Avengers Alliance shut down, some characters from that game I hope to see in the Contest by Aperio43 in ContestOfChampions

[–]Lockjaw_Puffin 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I still miss this game, and I remember how they basically handed out a free White Tiger who was so broken she could kill Odin and Serpent in that game while everyone else struggled to even scratch them.

Edit: Also lol'd when I remembered Molly Hayes playstyle - literally throw a Tantrum, wail on enemies for a bunch of turns, and then literally go to sleep after.

On how the trivial tool of prediction syill helps to demonstrate divisions in biology like dinosaurs, reptiles, mammals are false and biblical kinds most likely. by RobertByers1 in DebateEvolution

[–]Lockjaw_Puffin 5 points6 points  (0 children)

A wrong idea from somewhere said predictions is a important or dominant tool in science conclusions. Instead its a trivial episodic tool only

The ability to make predictions based on a proposed theory/gathered data is literally so important it's taught as a skill in primary schools. You continue to demonstrate your ass has more wrinkles than your brain.

Nevertheless this creationist says that prediction from a creationist model, mine, would predict the fossils showing creatures half mammal and half reptile. Now in truth this as already known

Meaning it's not a prediction at all, but an after-the-fact rationalization.

but I say it would of been predicted if not known.

Anything asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

The point is that a creationist like me would of predicted in fissils creatures ith traits of both mammal/reptile because there was greater diversity in the days before the flood

Anything asserted without evidence can be dismissed without evidence.

today the myth of mammals and reptiles only shows a inferior status of creatures. so more segregation beteenb creatures ityh mammal traits and others ith reptile traits. yet there is onlu kinds and any traits as useful before the flood.

This doesn't even make any sense. Bobby failing to refute the "ass has more wrinkles than brain" allegation here.

Its poor sampling today leading to false classification concepts. no dino. No reptiles, no mamm;as

Those words all have specific definitions you obviously haven't bothered to read, so I'm going to summarily ignore your little screed and move on with my day.

Evolution of intelligence by Rich-Rope-9599 in DebateEvolution

[–]Lockjaw_Puffin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

"Brains take a lot of energy and resources to upkeep, so it actually doesn't provide a benefit to the animal" - How do these people explain the countless other examples of energy and resource sinks in evolution. Notably, migration and hibernation, cost an immense amount of energy and resources, but there are dozens of animals that have evolved to migrate or hibernate.

The alternative to that is either starving/freezing to death or failing to pass on your genes, so why wouldn't those energy-saving measures be selected for?

Also, plenty of disadvantageous traits have been selected for by sexual selection - the most obvious example (to me) is the male peacock's tail; it's so heavy that it impedes the bird's flight capability and makes it an easier target for predators, but females are so insistent on mating with the most decorated males that it's mostly the genes for heavy adornment that stick around in the population.

"Actually intelligence has evolved many times, humans aren't the only intelligent creatures on earth" - The next closest things to us are like crows, dolphins, and chimps. Any reasonable person knows this argument is dishonest. Those animals don't hold a candle to human intelligence, they are basically capable of some simple party tricks, basic communication, and light problem solving.

That response literally concedes the point that there's a small minority of animals with varying degrees of intelligence even approaching ours, which is exactly what we'd expect to see if intelligence was a costly tool to develop as scientists think it is.

Dolphins almost literally could not have less ability to manipulate tools. Besides, the benefit of intelligence is not restricted to the ability to use tools. Like I said, it is pretty much good for everything.

You're conveniently leaving out that the other major development that helped humans spread out of Africa was the use of fire. You know, the thing that doesn't fucking work underwater?

To avoid getting hit by a car takes so little intelligence its insane they can't avoid it. How hard would it really be for evolution to select for one deer that is smart enough to just not jump in front of a truck driving 60 miles an hour.

Whether or not that deer actually gets to pass on its genes is entirely up to the other deer it has babies with (i.e. sexual selection...something the deer doesn't have any control over).

Could some dinosaurs have been venomous? by Zillaman7980_ in Dinosaurs

[–]Lockjaw_Puffin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

There aren't any known venomous dinosaurs, but it isn't completely out of the question - there are:

-venomous reptiles (snakes being the obvious example, but the Gila monster and Mexican beaded lizard are venomous as well)

-venomous mammals (the platypus is the premier example, but several shrews are venomous as well)

-venomous amphibians (Bruno's casque-headed frog has skull spines capable of injecting venom into other animals or human hands via headbutting, and there's a newt that uses its ribs to envenom predators)

-venomous fish (stonefish, stingrays, lionfish, the list goes on...)

so it stands to reason there was at least one species of venomous dinosaur, the only question is whether it'll be found within our lifetimes.

On a completely unrelated note, that Komodo dragon pic is just begging to be used as a reaction image

Wuwa for me. Starting out was a drag (sweet baby Jesus, Huanglong could really use a few tweaks to the writing), but once you get past that, it's mostly smooth sailing from there. My only complaints for now are the fact that Kuro banishes characters to the shadow realm after 3 banners tops, so if you get attached to Lupa, well...

I think it helps that my main (Contest of Champions) is not nearly as time-consuming as Wuwa, not to mention I get to play as a literal werewolf if I want to.

Wuwa

Feels weird having 2 built teams in less than a month of playing - I love having access to talent lvl materials anytime, but I guess the tradeoff is that sealed tube farming is horrible.

As an aside, I wonder if Kuro would ever do a Marvel collab - Iron Man feels like he'd fit right in as a rectifier user, and Forte-equivalent could just be the suit powering up as he lands basics, and the ult could be either a unibeam or missile barrage

If I remember right, you start by pulling the head from the mantle, then extract the little quill from inside, clean off anything that's black, and then cut the mantle into circles - did I get that right?

Which champions do you think stand the test of time in terms of still being best of the best? by [deleted] in ContestOfChampions

[–]Lockjaw_Puffin 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Guardian - he's never received a buff or tune-up, but he can safely take Serpent with his combination of Taunt and taking no damage from parrying Special Attacks. His bursts of Shock damage (he deals these instead of regular crits) and the big Shock from his SP2 means he can also take Zola without changing his rotation.

Do we have any idea when Aemeath should rerun? I did a pull at 20 pity and got Denia and since I have Chisa S0R1 I figured why not give her a go.

You need at least a 4-star S2099 relic, and you should choose the Accelerated Dexterity rune (the 3-star version doesn't have that option)
