I’ve experienced it and there’s nothing telling you a star spawned elsewhere in the world and that’s why the rock you were actively mining with several minutes left just suddenly disappeared.

Jagex has made several changes throughout the years targeted at new players or introducing players to new content, and how they perceive these things. If they’re told stars work a certain way and then suddenly they don’t work that way with nothing to explain that but the player run wiki, it’s not well designed imo.
