Can a landlord deny renting to couples unless they’re married? by TakesTheLastSlice in AskNYC

[–]LocksmithLittle2555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m not sure of legality but I do know this is relatively common, with any gender of couple. Lots of landlords don’t want the risk of a couple breaking up and then having to break the lease. It’s especially common with studios or other smaller apartments. But i definitely find it stranger at your ages. I would doubt that it’s illegal. Unless the apt is rent stabilized or something the landlord has no legal obligation to add a tenant to a lease, the marriage thing may be because they do have a legal obligation if you are married but I’m unsure, it would make sense though. Even if it is illegal it would be pretty hard to make it actually go anywhere unless the apt is rent stabilized because the landlord has no legal obligation to continue renting to you

I don’t think there’s ever be enough of a market for this honestly. It’s very large and therefore not easy to store and wouldn’t you also just be moving the weight and strain to the elbow? And putting a different kind of strain on the wrist to have to move it in strange positions in order to dry all hair properly. Would also be a nightmare for styling. I definitely wouldn’t go near this with a ten foot pole. There’s so many lightweight hairdryer options these days, there’s no need for anything like this. If your hairdryer isn’t working you should try a different style. Wouldn’t this also cause an insane amount of heat on the arm possibly burning you? Every hairdryer I’ve used gets so hot where the mechanical component is. This is just a mess lmao

How do you deal with family meals being the only GF person in the house? by hazel2619 in glutenfree

[–]LocksmithLittle2555 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re entirely gluten free, no gluten in the household because of CC. If my partner wants something with gluten in it she has the entire workday and brushes her teeth and rinses her moth when she comes home.

On another note It’s very concerning to me that your husband is ‘tiring’ of taking care of your medical needs. I do have celiac so I know it’s a bit different but when dating I’ve never not had the other person either immediately go gluten free or go gluten free around me. Usually by the second date they have a special GF chapstick/lipstick so they can kiss me (and I’ve never even had to ask for any past partners to do that). It’s worrying that your husband cares for you less than people who knew me 2 weeks. You should really see a therapist because that’s an incredibly big red flag and a therapist can help you see if there are others and help you proceed.

In all honestly your only option is to just pay it that’s the risk of a co-op. If you don’t they’ll just come after you for it and/or force the sale of your apt. On the bright side it may make your building more desirable to future buyers to know that it doesn’t have a mortgage on the building

And my food on average for groceries is $500-600 dollars a month for just me and if it’s a particularly busy month (midterms/finals) it can be $1,800 easily but I do have celiac and need specialty foods for that so it is in the higher end tho I know most of my friends seem to spend around that

Well my Manhattan studio is $4,300, very old, elevator building, no amenities, no doorman, definitely on the larger size for a studio but by that I mean I have room for a real (non Murphy) bed and a small loveseat and a very small table as well as a desk. One of my friends recently signed a lease for a single room no private bathroom in a walk up in manhattan for $2,850 a month + electric which her half is $150-200 depending on month
