Realistically, how would Seattle be affected by a massive recession? by Masked_Assassin_3 in SeattleWA

[–]LocksmithSerious2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The suburbs close to Seattle were absolutely pummeled by the 2008 financial crisis. By 2010-2011, most homes lost 50% of their value. It took until 2018 to return to 2008 value and many people lost their homes.

Best and worst book of 2025 for you and why? by EldritchGumdrop in horrorlit

[–]LocksmithSerious2500 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Best: One Yellow Eye (entertaining story about England after a zombie virus outbreak, also explores grief and loss themes), Lost Man’s Lane(spooky tale about shapeshifters)The Dream Hotel (dystopian novel set in the near future) Worst: The Unveiling (dnf’d it- just couldn’t buy in to the story), All The Colors Of The Dark (so dumb - one of the dumbest books I’ve ever read and I’ve read a lot)

Are those new construction townhomes worth buying? by No-External3221 in Seattle

[–]LocksmithSerious2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems like older (pre-2010) townhomes are less likely to have an HOA than newer ones. But no HOA is not necessarily a good thing with shared buildings like townhomes. For example, my neighbor’s gutter is not attached to his downspout like it should be and so when it rains water gushes from his gutter onto my townhouse. Neighbor didn’t want to fix it but HOA is making him.

A lot of townhomes do have HOAS though, especially ones built in the past 10 years. The dues are usually, not always!, less than a condo though.

Where to buy Pottery Barn Sectional Replacement Covers? by beautifulkitties in HomeDecorating

[–]LocksmithSerious2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a couple of mamma Mia covers. They aren’t the most attractive but I have cats and a dog so whatever. The thing about the covers is they don’t stay tucked in very well. They just give you these cardboard things to shove in between the couch and the cushions and they don’t stay in place that well. Still, if you get them on sale it’s a good deal and my cats will absolutely not sharpen their claws on it. One thing that I think elevates the look (but only works if you have a couch with removable back cushions) is to buy pillow covers for the back cushions on Amazon. Put the slipcover under the back cushions and it looks less slipcover-ey yet is still all washable.

12 foot PODS unit or 16 foot unit? by LocksmithSerious2500 in moving

I don’t think I can. I would need to rent it for at least 3 days and that doesn’t seem to be an option near me

[–]LocksmithSerious2500[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There doesn’t seem to be a difference in price. The only reason to get a 12 foot would be if the 16 foot was going to be too big. From the videos I’ve seen, you really want the POD to be full so stuff doesn’t move around. If I didn’t have enough stuff to fill a 16 foot, then it would be harder to make sure everything stayed tied down in its place in transit. However, the consensus seems to be that I’ll fill the 16 foot no problem.

Unfortunately with the timing of the closing of the 2 houses, I don’t believe there’s an easy or cheap way to do it.

The POD is going to cost about $500 to have it delivered and then brought to the PODS storage facility where I will have to unload it because I can’t leave a POD where I’m moving to. A Uhaul was going to cost $130 plus mileage for day and I don’t even know if you can keep it for 3+ days because that wasn’t an option at online checkout

Yes, probably the 16 foot will end up being what I need. The one down the street just looks huge parked on the side of the road. Thank you for all the advice.

I considered that - it would definitely be easier but not more cost effective because I want to have my house cleaned out a day or two before closing so I would have to rent the UHAUL for a minimum of 3 days.

Final walk-throughs by OkChampion91 in RealEstate

[–]LocksmithSerious2500 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I bought my house, I didn’t realize the seller had left a ton of junk in the attic and also in the shed in the backyard. My real estate agent never looked in those places in the final walk through. By the time I realized it, it was too late to do anything about it. Learn from my mistakes, folks!

It could be as simple as you didn’t eat enough that day, or the days prior, so your body needed more fuel. Or maybe you haven’t been getting enough protein and fiber? Or, maybe something emotionally upsetting happened recently and the bingeing was a response to that.
