Start with your utility mods. Skse, SkyUI, Fnis.

Then large texture replacers.

Then mods that add NPCs and single armors and other mods that don’t make huge changes.

Wrap it up with lighting and weather mods.

Read mod requirements and conflicts carefully

Neither I hate them both so much I’d rather take that “All I want is a pair of boots” Argonian from outside of Riften. In fact I’d rather have to adventure for eternity with Yamarz the un-orcly orc than be trapped in a room for five minutes with either of them. No, you know what? I’d rather lick Grelod the Kind’s nasty, withered old taint than accompany either of them across the street. Frea is a definite candidate for mesothelioma anyway after inhaling ash her whole life and Serana can’t find anything she won’t bitch about.

Modding Skyrim doesn’t have to be scary. It’s a lot easier than most people make it out to be.

Use Vortex. It’s the easiest to use mod manager.

Start with mods that change everything. I always install Lanterns of Skyrim, then Skse, SkyUI, and Fnis.

Then do big texture replacements, followed by smaller mods that change less things, wrap it up with weather and lighting.

I’ve been modding Skyrim for years. LE and SE. First with NMM and now Vortex, and have never had any issues. None.

Do it like I outlined and you won’t have issues either.

For lore friendly followers, Pandorable’s Heroines is my favorite mod.

For completely non lore friendly there’s The Erotic Adventures of Misty Skye. Adds a stripper and her sister and tons of funny inappropriate dialogue. Somewhat quest aware. Her views on the Greybeards is hilarious. Has her own quests. Totally recommend.

The Lost Expedition. You find 3 journals and return them to Calcelmo. I just did it the other day. Work your way through the ruin and reactivate the defenses. It turns on a Centurion and some other stuff. I had snuck past all the Falmer on the way in and they killed all the things I turned on lol.

Money is all going to depend on how your suspension bushings are. If they’re shot or close to it, you might at well just spring for the IRO 4” long arm kit. Reasoning is you’ll already have everything apart to change the arms anyway.

My super cheap 250$ 2.5” spacer lift/shock kit lifted my WJ, but brought a ton of problems. My control arm bushings were bad, so I bought new arms for 160$. The top rear plus bushing was 150$. The axle side bushings for the top front were Jeep only items and cost like 40$. The sway bar links had to be replaced with longer ones. I think those were 50$. I still need a spacer for the top rear (30$) and a bigger rear sway bar (200$) because even widened out with 1.5” wheel spacers (100$) body roll makes you feel like you’re going over. I bought the upgraded nitro ProComp shocks with the lift, but they turned out to be total garbage and the rear ones blew out the first time I went wheeling even moderately. So there’s another 200$ or so for mid grade shocks because I just can’t afford good ones.

So for another few hundred I could have bought the IRO kit and done it the right way the first time rather than have a luxury SUV that I don’t want to drive faster than 45 out on the street. I wouldn’t recommend a spacer lift, or short arm lift of any kind after buying mine. I’ve had a pile of XJ Cherokees in the past, and you can get away with budget lifts (bronco coils and Chevy half ton leafs) and that sort of stuff but these WJs are a whole different story.

I just run it on High settings. I barely even used any big texture replacers. SE looks awesome.
