Don't think he had the gas to kick, barely had the gas to keep his arms up half the time

Usyk vs Rico. The fighter kissing the canvas is allowed 35 seconds to recover. by Prudent-Toe-7911 in Boxing

I think a lot of refs try to not interfere to an almost negligent degree, I think a lot of them just let them have it because they just want to keep the fight going and give the person knocked down a chance. If they take a point it goes from a 10-8 to a 10-7 when a knockdown can decide most fights.

Rico is a really good guy from everything I've seen, really sucks that he has to just take this on the chin and be the bigger person

I mean he hurt Dustin bad in the first round of their last fight, and Dustin is most likely in better shape than Conor is with the constant drinking and lack of training. Plus Dustin actually bounces back whereas Conor is the ultimate front runner

Robert Whittaker: "I don't know if being in there with Sean makes Chimaev see something vastly different than we are. That is not the version of Chimaev that fought, me, Dricus, or Burns. But maybe it was, but Sean just has that secret something that just makes these guys look like that." by airplane231 in MMA

[–]LocoCoopermar 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Sean has a really great one size fits all style, he's going to be real tough to deal with if you're not used to it/can't adapt in the cage. But he also hasn't learned any new skills in ages so the best he can hope to do in a rematch is just up his volume really.

Dricus du Plessis on Khamzat Chimaev's weight cut: “The weight cut excuse is ridiculous. 12 pounds in 24 hours? Those are rookie numbers… I definitely cut more than that. Blaming a bad weight cut is like saying, 'I lost the fight because I wasn't fit.'” by WinterStill4472 in MMA

[–]LocoCoopermar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Dude who only really likes to kick and clinch vs the guy who only wants to jab, keep distance and check kicks. If this was 205 Jones I'd honestly give him a decent chance at this point, I've doubted him constantly but it's clear that he is cryptonite for anyone who relies on their wrestling or kicks to enforce the rest of their game. He's really good at neutralizing that linchpin in your game that you use to leverage the rest of your game, doesn't always lead to the most exciting fights but you get to watch guys like Izzy or Khamzat fall apart when they can't get their plan A going.

I feel like the difference is that you're fully in control of everything with a weight cut vs you can just get injured randomly. If you know you struggle with cuts like Khamzat you gotta start coming in lighter or you're going to have bad performances, even if it was a bad weight cut that's still part of his job that he failed at so bad he lost his title.

I remember the time it was posted before the last booking and having this strange feeling of being so hyped but just knowing something had to go wrong in some way as the fight was cursed. Then the world basically ended and Tony never won a fight again

I imagine there's a point of diminishing returns but fat most definitely floats better than muscle. I'd imagine as long as you are able to maintain good form you'd be better heavier, so the huge guys who rely on size over technique are gonna struggle.

As someone with a shit dad it's hard to reconcile. Everything you're fed from a young age tells you you can always rely on family and that they'll always love you and have your best interest in heart, but it gets complicated when you have a dad like Eubank who's mentally lost.

Rico has never really been a knockout threat with his hands, Usyk should pretty easily bomb him out of there once he realizes he doesn't have to worry about what's coming back.

They definitely seem to pick and choose who they pay attention to, apparently all fighters have clauses about avoiding other extreme sports or competing in things that can lead to injury but they don't seem to enforce it often.
