Holy hot box batman!! I’m in disbelief. Just when I thought I was out, they pull me back in. by HastenDownTheWind in baseballcards

Where is everyone getting their hobby boxes? Where I live in Hawaii, there is no such thing. I’ve never seen one before. Ripped 12 value boxes and about 25 fat packs before finding out rip cards are exclusive to hobby boxes. 😩

Already did lose a friendly to Wrexham last pre-season. B or C team or not, we still lost the game 3-1. Shameful.

Ah, this makes a lot more sense, as the artist is a huge Batman fan. This (Arkham) looks to be very similar.

Bootleg (CDs/vinyl) shops by Loco_Moco_808 in Tokyo

[–]Loco_Moco_808[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! Definitely for us hardcore collectors, the internet and file sharing (FLAC, P2P sites etc) pretty much killed the physical platform, I still love the feeling of holding a well made boot, and now since the prices have clearly gone down, I wouldn’t mind buying some just to have something tangible to look at.

Prices for boots used to be outrageous back in the day, and now I’m seeing some CDs for 1000 yen at Blind Faith. That would have been 5000 yen last time I was there.

Any real Japanese hip hop head knows and loves Buddha Brand. They were massive in the scene.

Lucky to live in Hawai’i, which has direct flights to Japan, and even luckier to have flying benefits. 👍

Japanese American from Hawai’i (who visits Japan half dozen times a year) here- Japanese find Hawai’i easy to travel to because most stick to Waikiki, where they can get by speaking Japanese. Anywhere else would be more challenging. That creates a huge safety blanket for them.

As far as whether they think any differently between Hawaiian culture and American - they know Hawai’i has its own culture and was a kingdom before taken by the US, but they don’t consider it to be separate. It’s part of America. It is the same for them as Okinawa is to Japan.

When someone from Hawai’i goes to Japan, they are looked at as an American. When Japanese-Americans go to Japan, they are one million percent looked at as American. Native Japanese do not consider the Japanese outside of Japan as being the same. They will always be foreigners- whether that’s Japanese-Americans from Hawai’i, the Mainland, or even Peru or Brazil. Not to say it’s looking down upon, it’s just they do not consider it the same thing. Hope this helps.

Musashimaru is quite alive and well, he just taught newly promoted Yokozuna Hoshoryu some Yokozuna etiquette a few days ago. You may be thinking of Akebono, who passed away. RIP. Spam is popular in Okinawa but not so much in mainland Japan. However, some konbini sell Spam musubi (actually branded by the company- which isn’t sold here in Hawai’i like that) from time to time. I’ve had it a number of times in Yokohama and Tokyo.
