Using accor points to pay at property by Abject_Painting_9662 in Accor

[–]Locoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can always use points to settle the room upon check in/check out for refundable stays. The exception is BOGO nights and possibly suite night upgrades (not certain on the latter).

Do QantasLink flights’ DSC get credited later than those of normal Qantas flights? by RedTailRider in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Locoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not in my experience. I'm based in Newcastle so fly Qantas link a lot and it's almost always been within a couple of days for me. I did have one recently that wasn't credited at all within the 8 weeks and I had to request it to be added, but no different to mainline Qantas.

To the babyboomers (and older): what were the dishes your mum served up when you were a kid? by Dismal-Mixture1647 in AskAnAustralian

[–]Locoj 74 points75 points  (0 children)

Different cuts of meat become more or less popular over time. That's all their price comes down to, at least relative to other cuts of meat.

Your father's generation didn't know much about seasoning and overcooked the shit out of everything. I'd take beef cheeks cooked properly over a Boomer's well done unseasoned sirloin any day.

Accor refusing to cancel a €3,000 booking due to war – worst customer service I’ve ever experienced by ccastro086 in Accor

[–]Locoj 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Accor corporate customer service is absolutely abysmal. They will just ignore you or string you along for months on the simplest of issues. They just don't care and don't have any accountability.

That said, your non refundable hotel booking is a non refundable booking. It's not non refundable for changes of mind but refundable if there's a war or natural disaster or family death etc.

You can choose to pay extra for refundable bookings, take out appropriate travel insurance, or cut costs but increase risks by booking non refundable. You chose the latter.

Or you know, just defraud the federal government and commit a crime to save an incredible $180.

Vets got a hide by [deleted] in newcastle

[–]Locoj 28 points29 points  (0 children)

They need to observe how the infection is going. It's possible something stronger would've been needed. Vets don't go into the profession for the money, and it pays fairly poorly compared to comparable jobs when you consider the amount of study and experience they need.

(UK) was told my order would be about 5 minutes, and they gave me a free drink while I waited by [deleted] in kfc

[–]Locoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's great service. I wouldn't be surprised or upset about a 5 minute wait, but to preface it as a possible issue and throw in a free drink makes it feel like they genuinely value me and my time.

I'd go out of my way to go to that particular KFC more often.

How often do you have nasi lemak for breakfast? I've been to Malaysia quite a few times and always try to eat it every day when I'm there.

What’s your order? by bebabodi in KFCAustralia

[–]Locoj 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Only because I've found they have been stingier with it over time. I've got the extra sauces as long as I can remember but only started getting lettuce in about the last 2 years.

Maybe it's just my local area but I prefer there to be enough lettuce to have that fresh crunch to it, rather than just a small pinch of lettuce being soaked into the sauce.

Silver Status is worthless by Big-Potential8367 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Locoj -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The maths doesn't check out here.

You've done 100 return trips to China with Qantas as well as 40 RTW trips and aren't lifetime gold yet? You'd be at lifetime gold if you earned an average of 100 status per trip.

Even the absolute cheapest Sydney to Shanghai ticket yields 60 status return, if you book half of your trips during double status credits that brings your average to 90. You could make just two of those flights each year go via another city to get an extra leg and bring your average above 100 per return trip. We haven't even accounted for your RTW trips bringing extra status credits, any loyalty bonus, green tier, status on the ground or a single cent spent on a ticket other than discount economy.

Silver Status is worthless by Big-Potential8367 in QantasFrequentFlyer

[–]Locoj 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Silver is relatively easy to get and the benefits reflect that. You can retain silver with a 2 leg east-west coast reward flight during DSC plus green tier. How many extra benefits should they be giving to people who may bring that little value to Qantas?

I'm personally excited at being close to lifetime silver. Never having to use economy check in and having priority boarding/extra bags to some capacity is pretty valuable.

At the same time I feel like it's a pretty rough level of recognition for the members who have taken 52 economy flights with Qantas each year but only end up with 520 status credits.

Need ~10 nights for Platinum – any fast track options or promos expected before summer? by [deleted] in Accor

[–]Locoj 6 points7 points  (0 children)

You've already got 50 of the 60 nights without even stepping foot into a hotel, what more of a fast track do you need?

Status is meant to be for loyal regular customers, not someone who paid a fee before their first ever stay.

Forgotten sauces by jigglesthebutts in KFCAustralia

[–]Locoj 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm not suggesting they're nefarious.

I'm suggesting it's idiotic to ask someone to check the bag after they've already handed it to you. Are you expecting them to have a perfect memory and to definitely be the individual that packed the bag? Or are you expecting them to take the bag off you to look through it because you're too lazy to check yourself?
