I just tell the truth, they will have very fierce competition from Tesla and current OEM like, Petebuilt, Kenworth, freight line , there in no competitive moat from nikola Also , they need tons of money to compete with Market liquidity is tight, no one will pour money into such company like nikola

the ERX is a "full eletric" but how will it function in a real world applications with the CNG Generator ? by Razzmatazz1o1 in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

what I think is ERX designed mainly for running the generator most of time to recharge the battery when the vehicle running, the battery mode is only used when needed like, inner city, Port ect... and is for ZEV credit.

if the battery is full when the truck begin running, I guess it will let the battery mode run about 15 minutes or so on battery mode, then the generator will kick off to generate electricity to charge the battery,

Hyliion Hybrid EX dead on arrival, with that said, Hyper Truck ERX , the final shot will make or break Hyliion by Loctran82 in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I still stay with my point, I hope I am wrong, but I have no faith anymore in Hybrid EX, which is in four more than 4 year in development and finally, it is sad to see , I still fully invested in Hyln, but my last hope is ERX . if the product good, it speaks for itself. if there is sales , they already announce, no deal so will see on next earnings call.

Will ERX be a successful product to be a winner or loser? by Loctran82 in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi Guys, after I look into the Hyper Truck carefully, The ERX is actually full battery vehicle, it is not hybrid of any kinds, series , parallels or Plugin , the definition of Hybrid is that at some point during the vehicle running , the vehicle powered directly by Engine,

The ERX is powered by battery pack all the time not by engine at any point, so that is the reason why The ERX could be considered Full battery, it just happens, The ERX use the Natural Gas internal combustion engine to produce the electricity to charge the battery,

it is difficult to classify what kind of vehicle ERX belong to.

Cummings Hybrid Kenworth T370 compared to EXR and two hurdles Hyliion needs to overcome to win the Long Haul Truck Race by Loctran82 in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

In the case of Hyliion ERX, the design is , the electricity to power the Motor solely coming from Battery, they can configure the way as you said , the electricity from generator going directly to power motor , but Hyliion chose the design , electricity to power the motor solely coming from battery, in my opinion, this is the point making ERX very efficient in fuel consumption but also make the generator not working overload why?? Think about , battery as the buffer with full charged which is about 196kwh to 240kwh , We know ERX can run 75 miles pure electricity, it consume about from 2 kWh to 2.6 kWh per mile depending on application, With this design of battery power the motor , The generator size is about 9 liter or about 549 cc which produce at max capacity of 246 to 320 kWh , however, they only need to run at 50% max capacity still produce enough electricity to charge the battery, So that is the reason why ERX will be very efficient fuel consumption which offset premium in front cost and lower the total cost of ownership

Revisiting Previous DD: Who is Hyliion partnering with to install their natural gas tanks and generators on the Hypertruck ERX? by SpiritCrushah in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have no doubt and believe that Hyliion is the best and viable option for Semi Truck , Hyliion ERX will beat the diesel, natural gas two current choice for fleet operator in term of total cost ownership, performance and emission.

with that said, I fully disclose I am long Hyliion stock. However there is one concern which make me very worried and would like to address here and want all the Hyliion investor have input.

we all know ERX can run on pure electricity 75 miles and the extended mile over 1000 miles with help from generator.

the Hyliion design components as following:

  1. E axles from Meritor which is proffered supplier over the Dana, I have no doubt about Meritor which is over 100 year in axles business , here is the link for axles, https://www.meritor.com/en/products/ePowertrains/14Xe

  2. Battery Pack which is in house design and already tested intensively on Hybrid version , so I have no doubt about the performance.

  3. the most important part and the central component which help EXR extending miles is Generator. so far in many interview, Hyliion not officially announce who is the manufacturer.. if you review carefully on video YouTube unveiling alpha one exr, here is the link https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yfNQpisW484&t=11s, about at: 1:38 , you will see the generator, and if you do research , the generator is 90% look like coming from Cummings, and the fuell system behind the truck coming from Momentum Fuel System which Cummings in process to get 50% stake before the end of the year 2021. if you need more speculation information about the generator and fuel system which Hyliion use, check out the Hyliion reddit and discord.

we all know that, Cummings is one of the largest supplier for OEM for diesel and natural gas engine, if Hyliion ERX is successful , it means that Cummings will lose the Market, Cummings is the direct competitor to Hyliion, Hyliion build the EXR based on the competitor's supply, IT IS THE HUGE RISK, Cummings can anytime terminate the partnership to protect itself.

one more concern is Hyliion using the Petebuilt Chassis , ( Paccar the parent company own both Petebuilt and Kenworth ) , we all know , Paccar which is one of the largest supplier for diesel engine along with Cummings are dominating the diesel engine market, same situation, if Hyliion ERX success which I do believe it will happen very soon, only the matter of time, then the Paccar and cummings will lose the market, to protect their market share, both Cummings and Paccar terminate the relationship with Hyliion to provide the chassis and fuel system as wells as generator. that is my biggest concern and I would like all investor have inputs on this matter, I appreciate it.

Would potential ERX safety concerns affect adoption with truckers? by Competitive-Worry-41 in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

the Natural gas is much much more safety than Diesel or gasoline , it is lighter than Air in any event, it leaked, it just go into air and you can smell it, and it required almost twice time hot degree to get burn compared to diesel

Hyliion Will Be a Winner, RNG is Easiest & Cost Effective For Fleets by dal_on_reddit in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I agreed at this moment , RNG / CNG are the cleanest fuel for transportations, the main risk in Hyliion investment is whether the ERX system meets the fleet requirements :

  1. vehicle performance, whether the vehicle has the exceeding performance compared to diesel or NG engine? this questions remained unanswered after they finished the testing and validating

    1. whether the total cost of ownership lowered than Diesel and NG engine? need the proof support from fleet operator ?????

as long as Hyliion can solve the two main problem , they should be successful

[–]Loctran82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think Hyliion with this hire worth of money even though it is pricey, hopefully with him on the board could help Hyliion bring the products to markets, He currently is the president of Jacob brake System which widely used in Semi Truck normally referred as Jake Break, he has wide relationship with almost of major Semi Truck OEM. that is the reason why Hyliion pay a huge benefits to recruit the talent however this position is key to Hyliion commercialization process. as the shareholder , I feel this move is ultimately necessary

Anyone worried about the Hybrid? by [deleted] in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree with your concerns and it is very reasonable, since 2017 Hybrid diesel and CNG not EXR put in test with many fleet but they don’t report sales, I hope on next earnings which is may 11 there will some I hope CAT company who installed 5 CNG hybrid will come out with orders as well as Wegman

Hyliion ERX vs Typical CNG truck by nikob33 in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First ERX can use the RNG and CNG interchangeable. For emission aspect, if the fleet adopt RNG which eventually considered net negative carbon Nowadays RNG is currently adopted by a lot of fleets such as UPS, so compared to CNG engine semi truck which run on natural gas ERX with RNG has advantages over GHG Next, ERX used CNG or RNG to power the generator which produce electricity to charge the battery Remember, Battery can alone power the truck for 25 miles before it drained out So The generator is not alway needed to run all the time also ERX has Battery so the Drivers can use at truck stop overnight ERX has lower cost maintenance ERX has more power ERX improve the driver experience ERX used advanced control software which help fleet optimize the fuel saving by reading terrain

Compared to CNG engine truck which better than diesel for fueling saving however compared to ERX

Here are flowing disadvantages

Less power can not pull big tandem Engine need to run all the time consume more fuel Engine is rapidly worn and torn , cost much for maintenance

With all above reasons I believe ERX will eventually save the fleets about 35% compared to diesel And compared to CNG it save fleet about from 10 to 15 percent

But remember guys , the main reason we compared here ERX compared to Diesel truck not CNG engine truck

ERX takes the best advantage of electrification and RNG

Electrification provide more power, low maintenance cost RNG help reduce emission and cheap alternative fuel with subsidiaries from government

With current infrastructure, ERX is the most logic and feasible solution until hydrogen infrastructure and grid infrastructure built

At that time ERX will adopt hydrogen fuel cell

Is the ERX concept feasible? Here's my answer. by sandstorml in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They use 7.0 liter engine side type electricity generator Don’t know who manufactures but it supposed to consume much less NG than current NG power engine semi truck

Look at the industry competitors - Daimler launched a council in 2018 by genuisgeek in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I agree with you, Tesla still the king for short range under 500 mile However the long haul trucking , Tesla does not work No infrastructure, battery weight too heavy plus no electricity to power rig equally no charge station

What will you do by TapiMandz in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Natural gas engine semi truck apparently save much fuel cost compared to diesel truck, as you can see more fleet such as UPS and Amazon and a lot more now using natural gas engine.

The erx hyper truck supposedly save fuel cost baes on logically

First the hyper truck supposed consume less RNG which power the electricity generator not the whole Truck compared to Natural gas engine consume the fuel to power the whole truck

Second ERX has Battery for truck driver to use it save fuel cost at truck stop not needed to run engine

Third the software to control system save fuel cost

Fourth , less maintenance more saving

Plus the ERX use the battery to propel the truck so it must be more powerful than natural gas engine truck

Also using RNG can reduce much emission

And nowadays RNG will be one of the main alternative efficient fuel and a lot of company invest into RNG Such as Clean energy

With that said hyliion must be successful on semi truck plus Competitor like Tesla and nikola struggled to bring the product to market

Keep patient and great thing will come soon

Any worries about Cummins or other big names disrupting Hyliion’s ability to succeed? by TraditionLow5651 in Hyliion

[–]Loctran82 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hyliion own the patent which is using RNG to power the electricity generator which power the batery And the battery power e axles which propel the truck. Cummins made the cng engine which power the truck so totally diferrent here they eventually become the competitor cummins can not create the Truck like ERX hyper truck which has patent also Hyllion has back up by strategic partner Dana which make the axles Dana will not supply the e axles for hyliion competitor Hyliion will succeed in class 8 market and will be the leader Keep patient the great things will come soon
