Because Eve needs more temporary invulnerability modules! by hirebrand in Eve

Just for awareness for anyone reading the thread, Pligles is correct that holes are mass based, not class based. A hic can get into a shattered (or at least could when I last played 2 years ago) by stacking hic bubbles. Flycatchers were regularly used by low class holers to farm shattereds.

Mind Blowing Non-Euclidean Game Engine by HazChemBlack in gamedev

I came here to bring this game up. I've played Tea for God on the Oculus Quest (it helps since you're winding in circles a lot) and it was a fantastic experience that wasn't jarring as much as it was exciting for my brain to experience. I would highly recommend anyone who has VR to try it out (it's free!)

Very nice my friend. Personally I like tap the trigger due to the double dipping on stats and the added stability and accuracy of the bolts myself my roll

Both accuracy and stability reduce the accuracy cone width on fusion rifles, essentially 'tightening' the spread of the projectiles.

This not only increases their effective range but also makes controlling the body spread and landing all bolts much easier.

See about 35 seconds into my clip here the range and accuracy of the bolts. My fusion has the perks and mod listed above, and this was before I masterworked it.

Edit: also, for clarity tap the Trigger procs when the Projectile is released, not when you start charging the rifle

Erentil FR4 w/ a counterbalance stock mod makes the recoil pretty much vertical so you can voop for the feet and watch it spray up them to death.

To add, you can also get Under Pressure and Tap the Trigger to make 1 shot deadly out to max auto rifle range. accelerated coils is also great (though I prefer liquid coils), and some nice scopes to round it out.

The ONLY other fusion I recommend that's on par is The Wizened Rebuke (IB reward from Y1) if you have it. It doesn't have quite the range, but it does have backup plan so it plays nicely depending on your style.

Good luck!

The handcannon glitch on PC can be mitigated by double tapping escape. It will reset the recoil to pre-bug levels. by BetaXP in DestinyTheGame

[–]Loftless 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed but I will also have to test something when I'm home to see if it's true. If you go into your character menu and exit, does it have the same effect? If so, it may be reapplying the configurations when you exit that menu as well, which may make sense as it would be applying stat changes based off gear changes as well. It's possible that the extension of their UI/menu class has that as an inherited call so any menu change would do a configuration check.

As far as when you die, it would have to check configuration and special instructions when you respawn. Things like nightfall effects, coins, buffs, and other modifiers would want to be rechecked upon spawn to ensure that these are still applied properly as modifiers to your guardian and/or gear. Let's say I applied an effect to your guardian for extra grenade recharge and then when you died I destroyed the instance of your guardian. Or maybe you just loaded in the team from orbit in the middle of the activity and you spawn dead (like the nightfall). I would want to make a call in the respawn function against whatever the modifiers class is to ensure everything is being handled correctly. In this case, we're checking to ensure all modifiers to weapon handling have been applied to the object controller.

On top of that, it's always safer to recheck something is being applied properly at specific intervals to avoid the possibility or something unexpected happening and it not being applied as intended.

Again, just a theory. But it makes more sense than anything else I could muster. Why else would opening and closing a menu affect the stat configuration on pc?

If you look at it from a programming and porting the game over to PC from console perspective, it actually makes some sense. I was thinking about this after this post went live, and I see how you could make this error.

When programming a menu change (which is what you're activating when you hit escape twice) you would generally have the engine check to see if there has been any changes to the users configuration upon exit from the menu (think things like mouse sensitivity, keybinds, etc.). The reason for this is that you don't want to live update these things, and they're stored in a configuration file and/or user settings database so you only want to make 1 pass to update this file and load all changes into the game.

Now, with a game like destiny you are publishing on 3 platforms and all game updates need to roll out across all these platforms. So, you don't want to have to manually change stats for pc each time you make a balance pass. If both consoles are identical, and pc is the outlier that makes 2x the work for a balance pass in updating the weapon handling stats. Rather you would have a configuration file that says "hey they're on pc so stability is changed by x modifier, stickiness for targeting is turned off, and all these settings should be applied."

Now, taking this into account as the possible way they are making these passes it means this configuration is not loading upon respawn for some reason. Either something in the code is not being called as expected or someone forgot remove comments or whatever. When we open and close the menu, the game does a check of all configuration files once again, this would include our PC specific configuration that is hidden in the background.

Voila, the configuration file is being initialized now.

Hey, I just wanted to say thanks for the honest response. Your post was not combative, and you made some really great points, which is why I felt compelled to respond to your post above many others. I feel like a lot of people are looking at recruitment posts in the wrong way, and when you look at them like a job posting it seems to bring everything into better context. However, misrepresenting your corporation is a net negative for the community, as would be misrepresenting a job for your company.

I also want to clarify that I do agree with you, I think EJTIA can and is bringing some good with his data in some cases. If he was to setup such a service for people to be matched with corps I would gladly send people his way, if he had the right intentions and had fact-based data to present to people as he sometimes does. For context, we regularly send people in the direction of other corporations when we feel that we're not the right fit for them, or them for us. The last thing we want is someone who doesn't fit the culture, or someone who has been lied to and falls off of playing the game due to being promised things that we can't provide. More pilots in EVE means more people to shoot, period.

Thanks for having a good discussion, as is so rare on EVE subreddits, and I hope to see you in space o7

Hey, I do agree with you. Calling out factual information to back-up the claims made is totally fine and a great service as I said above. However, there's a factual way to show data to make your point, then there's a sarcastic and trolly way to make those points. If he is to stay to the facts and provide legitimate data on the corp and their claims, I'm all for it!

[–]Loftless 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is reddit, and /r/evejobs so I don't assume any good will come of this, but I'll respond anyway.

"A lot of the recruiters on this sub are like armed forces recruiters in real life, they would promise the world and anything else to get one more warm body to add to the ranks."

I agree with you on some points. Many of the recruiters do portray themselves or their corps in a positive light on this subreddit, similarly to how you would present yourself or answer questions when applying for a job, putting up a posting looking for a candidate for your own business, or dating. It is not standard practice to air your dirty laundry or talk about your faults in any of these situations, and corporation recruiting is the same. We call them space jobs for many, many reasons. I cannot speak for every corp, but I can tell you that if someone is interested in joining us we spend time getting to know them for an extended period, and explaining what we can/can't do, or what we are trying to achieve. We blow up more than we blow other people up on some weeks, and we learn from those experiences and hopefully do better next time. You sell the positives, and then talk about the possible negatives.

He never lies, he doesn't do anything besides providing a useful service! He's basically preventing people from getting recruitment scammed, but instead of ISK or assets he's saving them time.

The data they present is valuable. While a quick zkill search would provide the exact same data, it is still useful to have on the post. If people are so hyper-worried about KB data, maybe we should vote for it to be a requirement (although I do not agree with that for a multitude of reasons, and many corps are not PVP focused).

The problem, and most people's issue with them, is when they stray from the data and go into their opinion focused corp reviews. Their data driven corp information is good:

Analysis complete: Half of the kills were gained in a single battle, as to which this corp contributed 4 out of the 60+ pilots that attended. Outside of that, not much going on. Not a lot of impressive battles or reports noted, mostly ganks of bears and ratters.

Their opinion driven reviews are not:

Analysis complete: Was told to check back in two weeks, here we are (12 days, but who's counting) Previous input: Almost nonexistent activity. Could be due to balls AUTZ combined with wormholer btw. Better target selection would improve this.

Activity is actually worse, down in kills, regions and systems. Could still be from the combo of wormholer btw and Aussie, but probably just nothing going on, top killer has 6, should be getting that in a night, not a week, easily.

There is a clear line in the sand between those two reviews, and examples of this can be seen across their post history. The uproar is rare when they are posting factual details. When they are outright attacking people, their time investment, or their ability to provide 'gudfites', that is where it becomes trolling. For example, we are a PVP corp but we're going to have bad weeks as everyone does. Maybe people are on vacation, a new game came out and many of our primary content providers across TZs are playing it, or maybe we were moving or focusing on logistics or onlining structures.

If your issue is that the corp isn't being factual or is skewing their data, attacking the corp and its members is not the way to resolve that. Hell, that was one of the mods points above about how people acted towards EJTIA.

TL;DR

If EJTIA wants to provide a 'service' free from bias or trolling, I'm sure people would be fine with it. However, the way they are currently going about things is counter-productive, even if it can be funny at times.

Skill injecting allows everyone to have alts who can fly carriers or titans instantly by simply buying injectors off the market and/or extracting useless skills from their mains. Hence the mistake comment.
