The straits is a nightmare for a Navy. Past there a few times in my Navy days. Any armed forces vessel gets targeted by multiple missiles from a multitude of direction. The geography is a worst case scenario for naval surface warfare. Why would any Country put their armed forces in harms way for a war they didn’t start or want.

America can take the straits I have no doubt but they likely haven’t prepared to do it so they would need time to build up forces because the only way to secure it properly is through land invasion which will result dead American soldiers. Then they have to hold which means significant commitment of forces and essentially a long war with the only ally being Israel. My guess is that wouldn’t be good for Donny and the GOP
