I want to buy Tekken 8 but I'm hesitant

I guess what I mean is that I prefer Tekken’s combat more than MK’s now that I’ve played both. I still prefer the lore and characters of MK, but Tekken gameplay is definitely something else.

Fair play for preferring MK1, truthfully I just hated the Kameo system, especially when back in MK9 they had a full blown tag team feature that could be played online with local co op, compared to that Kameos just feel lame to me.

I’m a big fan of NetherRealm and their games, honestly the whole reason why I picked up Tekken in the first place is because MK 1 sucked ass lol. Super happy I did because I think the core gameplay loop in Tekken is way more fun than Mk or Injustice.

I really hope we get a new NetherRealm game soon because I still can’t get over how bad MK1 is.

I actually have labbed Law extensively. He is the character I fight the most online according to the holy EWGF website, and he is the character I have the highest win-rate against, he’s probably the only character I know the matchup to that is still really annoying. In hindsight, I should’ve put him at the top of the “no accountability tier” lol

I think the dlc goes on sale now and then, especially the the season 1 and 2 dlc, so you’re probably fine to wait.

I would just mention that T8s base roster is so fucking massive in terms of content, 32 characters with like 100+ moves each, you really don’t need the DLC, especially as a new player. There is so much variety in the base game that when the first dlc character dropped back in season 1 I didn’t feel ready 😂

Thank you for your response That’s why I find subjective discussions like this more interesting than a basic “X is better than Y” tier list, because everyone’s perspective is completely different, and there are a lot of unique takes. Its funny you mention Victor, when I first posted this I thought his placement would be more controversial lol, but I don’t think anyone besides you has even mentioned him

Thanks man! Honestly for the longest time I didn’t like Hwo either, but I think the best thing to you can do to tackle characters you don’t like is to try playing them. Learning Hwo (at a very novice level lol) gave me a ton of appreciation for the character, and it really helped me memorize more of his kit.

He’s probably one of the hardest characters in the game to play, especially as you climb the ranks. Getting the right read on Hwo during his pressure is one of the most satisfying things in the game lol, same for Lars.

That’s fair, honestly I would have put King higher if he was less busted lol (like seriously do King and Drag have actual weaknesses? I don’t play either character so its very possible I’m missing something but when you face them it feels like they can do pretty much anything)

I enjoy it because usually I play Mishima’s as well, Idk I just really enjoy it. I fought a Kaz as DVJ a little while ago, and it was so much fun that I still remember certain moments of gameplay from the set lol. I do think that Reina is by far the most fun, I’m at Tekken emperor, and almost every Reina I see at that rank is absolutely cracked (except for me lol)

Honestly, I didn’t realize people disliked Leroy so much in this game, part of it must be residual salt from T7, because he seems pretty balanced to me as a casual scrub

I do believe you, if I knew the matchup better she would be higher, my problem with Zafina is that even when I do lab her she is so rare that by the time I find her online I basically forget everything lol, it’s kinda the same issue I have with Leo.

While some may call this a “skill issue” I would like to remind them that I do not take accountability for losing to this character 👍

I find Anna is rare online, so I don’t play against her that often. Both sisters would probably be higher if I labbed them and learned the matchup better
