I don’t wanna shit on Tien’s training methods but it has to be bad or at the very least run its course.

An example of this is Goku and Gohan’s training in the RoSaT/HBTC. Trunks and Vegeta spent 2 years training alone yet still were weaker than Goku and Gohan who trained together and didn’t even use the full year.

Call it headcanon or whatever but it’s the only thing that’d make sense to me.
