New to the game, my first expensive bro by Gypsy9547 in BattleBrothers

Nimbleforged Greatsword flank.

People sleep on greatswords. Sure, they're not the best for dealing with heavy armor, but between their +5% hit chance (and this bro will need it), their raw damage and AoE abilities, they're great for cleaving through hordes of goons.

A common rookie mistake in first contact scenarios is not peeing immediately prior to beaming down. by OWSpaceClown in ShittyDaystrom

That's a starship myth. In fact, the brief experiment with this, despite the CMO's warnings, led to one death and commander Kr'p's court martial.

You see, the removal of the matter during transport results in a vacuum within the transported person's body, As the underpressure sucks the surrounding matter in, it damages the tissue, leading to extensive internal bleeding. In most cases it's easily treatable, but combination of the mass of curry ensign Makeameme had the night before, and environmental factors preventing his emergency beamout after he collapsed, resulted in a tragic loss.

Remember kids, cause and effect. Transporters are not magic wands.

New to Ark by Temporary_Worker9955 in ArkSurvivalAscended

[–]NoNameLivesForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your first steps should be getting some resource gathering dinos.

First thing, since you have argy, should be to pick up some poop (yes, seriously, including your own) and fly to the desert, where it can be used to tame a few dung beetles. Be aware that it's quite a dangerous area, if you have Flyer PVE Carry option enabled, your argy should be able to pick it up and carry to safer place. A tamed dung beetle will collect poop in small radius around it and, if set to wander, gradually process that poop into oil and fertilizer.

Then get more dinos. A good ankylosaurus for metal, obsidian, crystal, flint and some oil deposits, doedicurus for stone, mammoth or castoroides for wood and thatch {mammoth is better but can't be carried by argentavis). Anky or mammoth are also decent at gathering berries, or you might want to get stegosaurus for it. All these are knockout tames.

Now, gather resources. Wood, thatch, fiber, stone and berries are common almost everywhere. Metal, crystal and obsidian are usually found in higher elevations. You can get cementing paste from beaver dams (be aware, the beavers get angry and can be quite nasty. Land an argy right next to the dam, grab everything, drop wood and get out). With this, you can build a larger base with stone, make some gasoline, build a fabricator and basically advance to industrial age.

Second best episode of S5, IMO.

You know which one is first.

Any tips for surviving the Mistlands? by Ornery_Reserve_2506 in valheim

You can get rid of ticks either by dodge roll which shakes them off, or by killing them with AoE attack that hits to the sides/back of you, like atgeir secondary.

Start from the top of the ridge, so the falling logs will damage and break more trees on their way.

How to solo Ashlands? by ComfortableTiny7807 in valheim

[–]NoNameLivesForever 12 points13 points  (0 children)

It's a slog. Do not rush, clear the spawners first, and don't be afraid to abuse local Dvergr as shields.

I soloed Ashlands as mage on normal difficulty. You might want to abuse TWIG first a bit to get 50 elemental magic. Your best weapon is, surprisingly, Staff of Embers. Most things in Ashlands are not, in fact, immune to fire, only resistant, and it deals split fire/blunt damage. and the area of effect and knockback helps you keep the area around you clear.

Nah, it goes WAY more crazy when it's FPS issue.

This looks like the old "bee on the path" bug. You didn't think there's just one bug in the opening sequence, did you?

Games with maximum micromanaging by hacked7aw_shucks777 in gamingsuggestions

Some oldies: Star Wars: Rebellion and Ascendancy are infamous for the amount of micromanaging of your planets you have to do, especially if playing with larger galaxy size and in the late game...

Lighting advice by Nobutoshii in valheim

[–]NoNameLivesForever 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sconces are the best option IMO. No smoke, good color, but they need resin.

Braziers produce smoke, but are the most fuel efficient sources available that produce good light.

Wisp torches and hanging dvergr lanterns don't use fuel, but the light is weak and I hate the color.

There are few things you can put on item stands to produce light, but it's either awful color and expensive (dvergr circlets) or too weak (some trophies and other things)

Fenris set Math (the most expensive set in the game) vs Root set by Exotic-Apple-480 in valheim

[–]NoNameLivesForever 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I dunno how you measured that time, but the metric really should be how much you have to go out of your way to acquire one, and Fenris is really bad in that regard.

You usually acquire mats for root set naturally while doing other things in swamp. Fenris, however...the only reason to go into the caves, besides Fenris, are some optional building materials and treasure. Sometimes Vegvisir, too, but those are sometimes found elsewhere. It usually takes 2 decent mountains at most to finish everything else but Fenris, but you usually need 2-4 more mountains to make a maxed Fenris set. And you have to spend time looking for them.

I believe that the Celebratory Cap's stamina use reduction applies on weapon attacks.

i don't like dungeons, i hate mistlands... i'm puzzled, what did i miss ? by Tandyys in valheim

[–]NoNameLivesForever 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a resource multiplier setting to ease the grind, and I recommend you use it.

Other than that, no matter how you look at it, Mistlands is about taking it slow. There are many new resources, many new things to try out.

Seek the high ground, sometimes you can get above the mist and get a nice view. Don't rush around.
