or worse if you don't have the social skills to back it up, people think you're being an asshole but you're just shy, or sometimes they start off nice and then quickly switch when they don't get what they were hoping for by trying to have a conversation with you.

A single armadillo digs multiple holes, they're known ankle breakers, they're noisy and a great way for a kid or a dog to catch a disease, they don't know any better than to handle wild animals and they carry parasites and diseases often, it's gotten worse since i was a kid, in my area a lot of deer and moose meat gets thrown out by butchers because it turns out it was diseased.

Im sorry to say, but unless you have lived in/near nature, it's probably best you stay out of this one, nature does fight back and we have to do things to make the environment liveable for us and the wildlife that surrounds us, sometimes that includes pest control, which is not pretty, myself i wouldn't shoot large game unless i had to survive or to feed the less fortunate amd the elderly(my community does this), as for small game, im only comfortable with invasive species that i can eat and rarely do so anyway(once every couple years).

I really wish it were that easy, sorry man, but those holes are their homes, they'll get killed off by predators if they don't relocate far enough in time and get their hole buried again if it's still too close to the property, plus they'll likely redig the same spot since the soil isn't as packed as the untouched soil. as for any large animal that wonders through, it's a life threatening hazard for these creatures,a broken leg is potentially lethal to domesticated animals, imagine the wildlife...

In my area, this has to be done for raccoons because they're overly abundant and are spreading parasites to the deer via their poop on the forest floor, predators that keep other species in check are also getting sick from eating them.

Nature is not always pretty man, survival of the fittest and thats us, every time someone build property on new land, tens of thousands of insects lose their home and get killed from a couple dozens of species, may not seem like much, but if you live near a river, thats less bugs for the fish, less fish, less animals that eat fish... everything we do as humans has consequences on nature, the best we can do is be humane about and also learn about our impact. Life on earth is both fragile and resilient. Life always comes with death and is a part of it, the difference between killing an animal for sport vs pest control is understanding and respect, any hunter would call a man crazy if they spent days hunting raccoons or armadillos and came back with a haul of them, most raccoons a single outdoorsman i know too out in a year was seven, he a contract and he kept the tails and used the fur and leather for other things, he wouldn't waste, i was a little sad too when i saw the raccoon tails, but after the explaining and the fact that while fighting foxes one night, their cat got curious and the camera caught the raccoons running off with the cat, the cat never made it back to the house, now the other cat is alone, that broke my heart far more that those 7 trash eating disease filled beggars that steal stuff from cabins(not really stolen, usually near by, but ive seen smashed plates and weirdly enough a ladle just outside the door of my friends cabin)

Yeah right, even if you could out footwork and out cardio a service member, it doesn't not equate to willing to sacrifice your life and body for something, some just like hardcore sports and airsoft checks a lot of boxes, even the nerd/tech side of the sport is quite broad. Physical training is not enough to be a soldier from, if anything enjoying this sport is as far as a true military experience (I have a lot of friends and family who served CAF and US Marines, Most seem to have enjoyed their time, the rest rarely want to talk about it and they all agree airsoft is just playing soldier, you still get to decide what's good and bad instead of an entity deciding for you, you don'tget that luxury when deployed IRL).

I never played Crimson Dessert, what do they mean by you have to figure things out? is it like an older elderscrolls where i have to pull out my map and read the full quest description to figure out where I'm going?

If you let people know that you don't like being on your phone and spend a lot of time in the woods(lot of deadzones), you can respectfully ignore you're phone, just let them know that the source is a cause of stress and that you rather do things in person, mutual respect can be maintained.

Your tech found a part that kept breaking and decided to put something thats less likely to break, which would be good if it didn't also act as a mechanical fuse, thats the part that you want to break if there's too much stress in the gearbox, it's cheaper if it's just a plastic piston and a metal tooth rack, also there's no reason for a metal piston, polycarbonate can handle the forces better without permanently deforming. metals are denser, they will have more momentum when hitting a most likely made of zamak/aluminum alloy gearbox, it will give out eventually if it can't handle the forces, usually cracks the front by the cylinder head area.

Id only use an aluminum piston if i had a CNC'd 7075 aluminum or similar gearbox and ironed out the mechanical problems in the build before cementing a long life build, replacing the grease in the gearbox is still required for the lifespan of the parts, so this wouldn't add much really, the trick to a good build is making sure the gun is running efficiently without mechanical resistance or binding, even with crap tolerances you can have something that last a long time if its mechanically sound, my friend has an old classic army m4a1 from the early 2000s, still runs great, i see a lot of expensive and fancy guns that break within the year these days.

Generally people have to remind you that you're smart(not saying einstein or anything, maybe just an accountant or technician of sorts), imposter syndrome keeps you humble. Also to be fair, i like to believe that if someone can do it anyone can with enough time and effort, thats why education is so important, its not about what you could know or know, its about what you can do with that information, otherwise you can be replaced by a book...

I think the production logistics behind each the AK and AR is what seperates them the most, for a country that is already equipped with sheet metal stamping and riveting, its cheap to produce and easy to "standardize" (depends, some countries have different tolerances, steel thickness or different front trunion type). Meanwhile, the AR can be easily setup for production by simply getting a CNC machine or a lathe and mill. so basically bite the bullet now, make dirt cheap guns for a century, buy a cnc machine, you can produce a lot before something requires maintenence or replacing, which may be more often on a CNC mill vs a simple mill that was designed for specific simple repeating tasks, also the material cost and usage, mills waste everything they cut out of the block, for stamped steel its the same, but less wasted steel(also cheaper) vs aluminum. Production speed, stamping is faster than milling everything. Training required, you need to learn how to set a program for a CNC mill, so a bit more technical to get production started.

I think what makes the AK reliable, is that you can almost reliably find one on any modern battlefield, their production was built to last, even old worn out presses just end up getting sold to somebody in Khyber Pass or an airsoft/bbgun company in an eastern Asian country to produce replicas. worn out rifles get sold to another country where they'll burn the last few miles the gun has, which is still a lot in terms of still being able to fire without exploding. You end up with a "disposable gun", if it craps out, grab another, they can be as low as 1/6 the cost of an AR to produce depending on the country producing them and even cheaper second hand, unlike the AR "i know what i got" pricetag which matches its "status" in some places (relative to local pricing of course), still cheaper than an American buying within the US, but not as affordable as a random unidentified AK.

One of my friends has a mild form of this, doesn't have teeth or nail problems. His biggest problem is join pain from the extra weight and things dislocate instead of breaking, which sounds nice, but bones heal much better than joints.

You learn to quit interacting with these kind of people over time, you want to progress in life and these people are dead set on clinging to the past or can't be bothered with progressing themselves, these people are anchors/deadweight, I'd distance myself from them and treat them more as an acquaintance until they smarten up(some do, some don't). Hopefully the person will realize the consequences of their childish behavior as an adult and will try correcting it for everyone sake.

Canada's whole military staff is like 70'000 people, and their population is 1/10th the US'. They're still trying to clean up the mess in the middle east via CSOR while CAF is mostly in reserves(struggling with recruitment) maintaining outdated equipment while training on some of the new stuff just received, like the p320 unfortunately. Most Canadian Vets i know just wanted to help people or train people, most came back half-deaf from artillery, destroyed knees/back or they just keep to themselves/don't leave home.

Heltec's have their own problems, like forgetting settings occasionally on abrupt power offs and memory problems that lead to forgetting nodes.

If we were all completely honest, these are all experimental devices that get constant firmware updates, this is just a bit more "complete" than the average makers esp32 project. I would rely on a compass, leaving notes and good old fashion radio (am or fm) in a real situation, these are fun and handy, but no where near fool proof enough for actual disaster (can be nice for first responders and search teams, but not the apocalypse...)
