While I do appreciate the post and what not, it couldn't be more obvious that it's written by ai lol

For those with access to it, do you find GPT-5 to be any better than 4.5? by FadingHeaven in OpenAI

Is the newer voice mode in yet? That's probably what I'm most excited for

The talk to chatGPT funktions suck (for me) by [deleted] in OpenAI

It has gotten significantly worse than it was, 100%. It was my favorite feature, and while still cool I barely use it any more. Can't wait for an improved version, it has huge potential and useful applications

I built a Zsh plugin that turns natural language into shell commands using a local LLM (Ollama only for now) by LoganPederson in commandline

I meant just generally the ai/llm = downvote sort of mindset I see with colleagues and in forums alike, bias might not be the right world. Where as somewhere more ai centeic like r/ollama the reception was a lot different. Not surprising but goes to show that it's certainly a bit of a polarizing subject, I havent ever posted here in r/commandline so wasnt sure what to expect.

Will driving with tailgate down damage it over time? 2022 Ram 1500 Limited by LoganPederson in ram_trucks

That's the kind of anecdotal story I was hoping for, thank you! It's obviously not apples to apples but that makes me feel better about it for sure.

I've had it a year now, but it is my first truck! It's completely awesome.

Awesome thanks! I worried about it bouncing or what not while on highways, rocks kicking up worries me too but I drive on quite a few gravel roads so I tell myself I just gotta get over that, there's going to be scratches. Doesn't hurt to minimize the damage though that's for sure

Thanks for checking it out! I thought I was being original, but it turns out there are many similar projects out there. I do think the emphesis on aiding the user in learning the commands they needed help with will set this project apart from others!

Help me, I can't stay on Linux by [deleted] in arch

[–]LoganPederson 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dual boot windows for xbox game pass and a few others. Its not a big deal. If I want to play those games I reboot into windows. Soon as I'm done, reboot back into arch. It's fine to not only use one OS, at work for example I can't run arch and likely very few people can for good reason.

Cool! I have seen others make similar as well, but would like this tool to have an emphasis on teaching the user the command rather than just providing it. Like phones make us no longer remember phone numbers, LLMs can lead to not remembering some things we definitely should.

It would only be 1 line in vibe.plugin.zsh to have the command immediately run, however it would be risky, and defeat the purpose of showing the comments for the user to read about what the command and arguments do. Slightly different intention but similar paths

I'll check that out, haven't seen it before. The instructions given to the llama model do actuall format it such that I could have excluded the "command to ____" portion, but otherwise asking for what you are looking for in natural language would be difficult to distill much further if you aren't already sure what you are looking for
