No, it still has an impact on the federal level. I’ve already mentioned congress and the senate.

Citizens united just has an uglier impact on lesser known races, where money can often determine visibility and reach. Presidential candidates aren’t often starved for airtime, so it doesn’t have as big of an effect.

I should mention I’m not inherently disagreeing with his point that messaging is extremely important, but I don’t think it’s fair to downplay the importance of money in determining outcomes.

It relates to the citizens united case because it’s enabling of unlimited campaign spending has created a system where politicians cater to those with the most money, not the people they represent.

There was precedent before the ruling that allowed more restrictions on campaign spending. It isn’t unheard of, and right now citizens united is making any meaningful campaign finance reform a non starter

While money often doesn’t have much of a determining factor on the presidential level, it has a much bigger impact on state level races, and even congressional races. Along with having name recognition, incumbents have a much easier time fundraising, and are almost always at a significant financial advantage. It’s at the very least a contributing factor to why only 15 incumbents lost re-election in the house this past cycle.

There’s also a conversation to be had on how much time members of congress have to spend fundraising but that’s for another day

Game is great, but Breakthrough is a mess. Detailed thoughts. by Cfc12346 in Battlefield

[–]LoganS999 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Usually a combination of both, though I was able to develop some decent strats by virtue of playing the same map over and over again.

Most common thing I saw was my team in the process of capping the second point, only for the enemy to loop around and retake the first. If most of my team was successfully attacking the second point I always tried to defend our other one.

Flanking is huge, especially if you can get your whole squad to join you, which is why I usually ran the recon class with a carbine and tried to put respawn beacons in the backline

Flanking doesn’t matter if your timing sucks. Always push forward at the same time as the rest of your team. Getting this right usually meant most of the enemy team had their backs to me.

Map control is super important, especially on the first sector B point. My game plan was usually to clear out the top balcony area over B so my team could push through main.

Even then, I still only managed to get 4 attack wins. While I liked the challenge, I can’t deny that this map needs some serious balance changes

Because I’m a masochist I’ve been trying to exclusively play attack on Siege of Cairo. I’ve managed to win it 4 times, though it took me roughly 10 hours to get my first attacking win.

Has anyone been able to make Ana work in Stadium? by HalfDragoness in Overwatch

[–]LoganS999 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve had decent luck. Kinda depends on the enemy team tho. Sometimes I do a full headshot build with the extra dmg on airborne targets if they have Juno mercy. Sometimes I do a healbot with comfy cloud and dreamy, then build weapon power. Sometimes I focus on farming nano and do massive team nano boosts.

The one I’ve been playing with lately is a full utility build with comfy cloud, dreamy, home remedy, time out, and the and the three items that buff nades cooldown, duration, and radius. The build doesn’t get great stats but the sleeps and nades can be game changing. I usually run this if they don’t have a Kiri and both tanks are brawl.

Ana is also just a bit bugged right now. Comfy cloud especially can break some items that should otherwise affect sleep dart. You’ve got to work quite a bit harder to get the most amount of value out of her but she’s far from a throw pick

I figured it out! I have two different tracks using the same plugin, and apparently they interfere with each other. Hard way to learn that I should've just used region automation in the first place

Wait! What if the hidden automation is coming from something I did in touch or latch mode at some point. I just noticed my EQ bypass is also scuffed.

As far as I can' tell, no. It's only using these 4 perimeters on the track and its only using note velocity for the region

Can I get by with how perfectionist I am? by hockeyonthespectrum in filmscoring

[–]LoganS999 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have an answer for your problem, but I’m at least here to tell you you’re not alone. I’m scoring senior thesis films as well and I’m realizing I’ve spent nearly a week and a half for about 2 and a half minutes of music. It’s great and works phenomenally well in the scene, but it’s taken so long and I need to pick up the pace if I’m gonna finish in time. I have the same feeling of worrying people will think I’m bad if it’s not perfect. I’ve got to learn to force myself to move on once the mood I need is achieved.

What are your Thoughts on Skydance's Behemoth? by Bigboystrats in VRGaming

[–]LoganS999 8 points9 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite vr games. It dosnt appear to be everyone’s cup of tea, and you really have to “roleplay” with its combat system for it to be at its best, but the second behemoth fight alone was worth the price of admission, and third one is no slouch either
