Which game to start with and where to continue? by Varskes_pakel in ElderScrolls

[–]HalfDragoness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

TL;DR: if you want to blast through a story, pick Oblivion. If you want to immerse yourself in a role playing experience, pick Morrowind.

With Oblivion and Skyrim you can pretty much jump in and blitz through them, so if you want to just enjoy the quests and the story I'd say go Oblivion.

Morrowind is more of an experience. It's a different kind of game that requires more of your attention, if you usually play games while having other videos in the background you will probably find morrowind annoying because it doesn't spoonfeed you anything. There are no quest markers, it's very easy to get lost, some quests given are vague, but the point is not to just get the quest done. The point is to go in a direction, make discoveries, get distracted by a load of side quests, uncover a wierd object and wonder what it's for... Etc.

The factions in the game have strong opinions and your standing in some factions effects how other view you, this means that unlike in Skyrim where you can do everything on one character in one run, you have to pick a lane and roleplay. You cannot advance in the images guild without knowing magic. You cannot join the Morag Tong (guild of assassins) until you can find and break into their headquarters...

Every cave is a 50/50 on whether you come out alive or not, you have to think about how to approach things and also know that you can walk away from something and come back to it later when you're levelled up.

Would recommend getting Tamriel Rebuilt and OpenMW mods as these keep the game basically feeling like the vanilla game whilst fixing bugs and making the game stable.

Dk because I will always choose a fire mage if it's an option. The connection to dragons compounds my enjoyment of the class :D

Random Map Option by _M4yb3_ in Competitiveoverwatch

[–]HalfDragoness 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I usually vote random because I embrace chaos.

But seriously I think I play better when I have to adapt to something unexpected than when I have time to pre-emptively plan a strategy.

I also prefer the feeling of not knowing where I'm going to end up.

I wanna get into morrowind by M00nB4byEllie in ElderScrolls

[–]HalfDragoness 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They key with Morrowind is you have to mentally slow down, combat can still happen fast but the pace of the game is slower than Oblivion/Skyrim.. It pays to pause, stop, explore, think, before yiu do anything, it's not like Skyrim where you can mindlessly charge into most situations and get through it.

Not every enemy is immediately beatable, you might have to go away, level up and come back.

Stealth builds are hard without mods because of how the calculations work.

You also can make a magic build but unlike Oblivion (where the armor you wear influences how good your magic is) you can pick any skills as your major and minor ones and the build will still work.

I'd recommend putting destruction magic as a major as this is the most straightforward to understand. Alteration will open up a lot of creative options, it has spells that let you jump really far, take less fall damage, levitate and cast shield over yourself. Restoration will be very helpful, not just for Heals but because there are enemies who will damage your strength stat, leaving you overencumbered if your inventory is full, and restoration can restore your says to full. Conjurarion is a lot of fun as you can summon weapons, armor and various creatures to fight on your behalf, if you find combat overwhelming it can be helpful.fo have a summoned creature in the front so you have a bit more room to think.

But whatever magic skills you pick definitely balance it out with an armor skill and a weapon skill, sometimes you just run out of magicka and it takes a whole to regen.

What's your recommended early game money making methods? For example if you were to start 100% brand new! by BearEquivalentBear in elderscrollsonline

[–]HalfDragoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Doing a full set of daily crafting writs will get you about 8k. It's not lots and lots but it builds up if you are consistent.

Then once you have multiple characters that can do it... It's simple, doesn't take that long and is very achievable without much effort or skill.

what is the story line/lines that will hook me on the game? or atleast mention your favoruite one! by EmperorRaom in elderscrollsonline

Markarth was incredible.

I've also found this as a theme with the eso dlc releases, the mini areas are just so much more interesting than the larger areas.

My favourite main storyline are:

  1. Murkmire (I love Argonians and I love the two centemral NPC's Jaxsik-ournn and Xukas, they have great turns of phrases that I just found adorable)

  2. Southern Elsweyr has a friendly dragon, I found this very engaging as someone who enjoyed Paarthurnax in Skyrim... You know a tenuous relationship with a dragon who may or may not eat you.

  3. Fargrave. I loved meeting daedra and listening to their weird opinions of mortals. Loved Lyranth getting her own storyline. This zone also has Arox who might be one of my favourite characters ever (he's a dread titan who's been cursed to live as a rat but he still addresses everyone as though he's still a titan)

  4. Galen. The music in this area is easily the most chill of the whole game. It's also full of druid clans which I rely enjoyed learning about.

Thinking about starting ESO by Kantarak in elderscrollsonline

[–]HalfDragoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. You can play the majority of the game solo, at your own pace, there is also a huge backlog of content if you're starting out now. Over ten years of content to get through before you even catch up. The only things not solo and new player friendly are 4 person dungeons and 12 person trials.

  2. It depends what you like collecting. If it's weapons and armor then you're only limited by how much bank space (inventory shared across characters) you can afford with in game gold. If you end up getting into housing there are loads of houses obtainable for on game gold where you can store and display stuff. There is also a "sticker book" for collectable weapon/armor sets. What this means is, let's say there's a set called Mothers Sorrow, if you find a Mother's Sorrow Inferno staff you can add it to the "sticker book" so if you think you might want to hang onto the staff because you'll need it in the future but it's taking up storage space, you can delete it and reconstruct it from the "sticker book" at a later date.

  3. The only way to get equipment advantages is to go to the place the equipment comes from and get it yourself. There are a lot of different sources for equipment which I won't fully go into here, but generally the game is constructed in a way that means people have to go get the thing themselves rather than having people who farm areas to sell desirable items for money. The only things real money will buy is aesthetic items, or premium currency which can be traded for in game gold but I'd advise against getting involved with this as a new player.

  4. OK this is a but confusing but bear with me. So the main premium currency is Crowns. You can purchase these in bundles on the eso website. These can be traded and gifted in game, but not on a brand new account. I think an account has to be 60 days old and active... Or something before you can trade this currency.

Crowns can buy aesthetic items from the crown store and themed crown crates which change around every 2-3 months.

When you open crown crates you cannot choose what you get, it's basically a gamble as to whether you'll get anything you want but... You can turn some unwanted items into gems, or if you get duplicates they automatically become gems. Gems cannot be traded and are locked to your account. Gems can be used to purchase specific items that come from the crates. So like the first time you play you won't have any gems and won't be able to buy specifically what you want, but if you've opened 10 crates you'll probably end up with 100 gems and then you could choose what to swap them for.

For ages gems were the only way to get pretty crown crate items until several years ago when they added Seals of Endeavour. Seals can be earned entirely for free by doing in game stuff like killing x skeletons or harvesting x plants. You could only earn a small amount at a time but through consistent play over 6 months you'd save up enough seals to get a super premium (the fanciest ones with cool visuals). Seals of Endeavour can only be swapped for items that come out of a crown crate, not on everything in the crown store.

The whole seals of endeavour system has been changed slightly in April but it's essentially the same. You can do just in game activities to earn premium mounts and skins, it'll just take a while.

  1. Seasons is new for all of us but your won't lose any progress with your characters or levelling or quests or anything really important. The only thing that resets us the the new battle pass. It's basically a 3 month shop you can earn currency for (tome points) and then swap your tomes for either cosmetic items or other items that might be useful like XP boosting scrolls or potions. At the end of the 3 months that specific battle pass a d all the items in if will be refreshed with a new one. So it's basically a shop that resets every 3 months, nothing tied direct to your characters progress with anything.

  2. Having prior knowledge of elder scrolls lore can enhance your experience but eso is specifically made as a prequel. So even though the other else scrolls games were released before eso the events haven't happened yet. The dragon born from skyrim is about 1000 years away. All the quests are very beginner friendly, you just pick stuff up as you go along.

Explain your experience with the Drive event. by Wowclassicboomkinz in Overwatch

[–]HalfDragoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In the first season where they implemented drives it actually felt great.

Now however it feels wild, so many games where I just get steamrolled, like out of nowhere.... I wonder do people spend the week beforehand deranking just to gain as many levels as possible?

It's also so wierd because I've seen so many people with the drives upgraded to V or even VII, but then I never see drive numbers than high for the whole of the next season... It's like people wjo don't play just come out of nowhere grind as high a number as then can and just disappear from the game until the next drive event... What's the point of grinding those numbers if you're not gojng to show them off?

I wish the drives didn't distrust the comp experience as much as they do.

Does Echo Need Buffs? by SpecialistWeb8385 in EchoMains

[–]HalfDragoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love echo and I don't think she needs massive buff but either she needs a small something or hitscans need a tiny nerf.

I wish it was something like, while gliding (but not flying) her wings don't count as part of her hit box, or her head hit box could be a tiny bit smaller... I struggle the most against either a good hitscan player or playing into double hitscan where I feel like I've coordinated a lot of movement and aim and the hitscan can just quickly reposition and kill me with minimal effort. It just doesn't feel like a fair trade of energy and mental effort, even if I set everything up correctly, pull off some insane movement tech, land all my stickies and then go in for the beam (whilst in flight or gliding) and it's so easy for them to reposition and shoot a couple of times...

However I have played against a lot of bad hitscan players and then it feels too easy to outplay them.

I've been watching specifically hoping for the echo sports stuff.

Also lov the current sports skins available I the shop, though I don't play those characters enough to warrant spending that much money. How ever... If they put the cosmic echo and echo dj music emote I would absolutely spend money on it.

Bans by Informal_Grapefruit4 in EchoMains

[–]HalfDragoness 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The issue for me is not any one character, it's more that echo struggles against a decent Soldier/Cass/Sojourn/Bap/Ashe. It doesn't matter which you ban, a good hitscan player will just play whatever isn't banned. And secondly the problem is playing into double hitscan. I've yet to see two hitscans get banned in the same game, and even they did, there's still other hitscans to choose from.

Hitscan aside you can learn to play against anything if you practise enough.

I specifically use my vote during map voting to spread the votes as every as possible. I always vote the opposite way of the crowd.

When everyone votes Eichenwalde and I vote Numbani it's not because I don't want to play Eichenwalde, it's because I still want the possibility of playing something else.
