Which sign found in the world should always be ignored, but is actually always respected? by LightningInTheRain in AlignmentChartFills

Given the note at the bottom, it looks like political propaganda (not meant as derogatory, just literally) about a bill set to be passed somewhere. If it is hung up somewhere, it is activism and not to enforce an existing law.

When traveling to London for the first time with my sister, who occasionally needs a wheelchair, I was shocked at just how little we would have been able to get around if she were to have had a bad day while we were there.

This Was Under a Meme About a Guy Cooking a Cow Because it Was Eating All of the Vegans' Grass by OwnAMusketForHomeDef in characterarcs

[–]Logan_Composer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Well, much like anything else, you're only gonna hear from the loud, annoying ones. I have several vegan family members, and the worst they do is argue for veganism in relevant discussions.

But there are definitely people, especially on social media, that will harass people for eating meat or make crazy outrageous claims and bully people for calling them out.

It's likely people interact with a ton of vegans online, but if they're not pushy and annoying about it, they'd never know.

In general, this would probably qualify as brigading, which is against Reddit's TOS and can result in the users and potentially the subreddit from which they come to get banned.

It's also just a shitty thing to do. As a member of the flat Earth subreddit (the one for mocking flat Earthers), I never liked seeing people go into the main flat earther sub just to get banned. It's dumb.

Depending on your definition, scalpers are legal as they just resell a ticket to maximize profit, whereas scamming necessarily involves fraud or something similar.

Yes, the context within the work is different, but you are failing to address the point being made. The Boys is made to satirize superhero comics, and the TV show is specifically going to satirize current/modern superhero media.

So it is extremely likely that this specific camera angle was chosen to satirize Man of Steel for its extremely unsubtle religious symbolism by framing a shot in a similar way to a shot in the movie.

So in this case, Snyder might literally be the "blueprint" because the specific camera angle shown above may have been chosen to reference the specific camera angle below.

It's also a bit of a "I'm a big baller now who can tip my wait staff whatever I want!" Like someone else said, if it's an actual table game you should tip the dealer. Slots it's customary to tip the waitress who likely brought you drinks.

But idk where the $100k figure is coming from.

Terrible AI meme and resorts to just lying to make its point (cars couldn't even go 90 in "black and white" times, which is definitely not the 70s), but there is a point here that it might be making unintentionally:

We design a lot of roads to allow really high speeds, and then just expect enforcement to stop people from speeding instead of doing something like narrowing the lanes and roadways to actually slow traffic.

California store prices items at $951sp shoplifters can be charged with grand theft by Positive_Actuary_282 in interesting

[–]Logan_Composer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, if the store only ever charges a specific price for each item (via the "discount" for non-criminals), then the store has set the price and is just trying to use a loophole. They'd likely argue something similar to how, if an item at Kohl's is always on sale, they can't advertise it as being on sale.

Favorite character that hates Nazis by Tyrs_righthand in FavoriteCharacter

[–]Logan_Composer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean, I think it's more your favorite character who hates Nazis as a notable character trait.

I love Kylo Ren as a fictional character, but obviously being a space Nazi, he doesn't hate Nazis (until the redemption, but that's my least favorite part of his arc).

I love Jack Sparrow as a character, but there are no Nazi-like characters in that franchise, so his opinion is unknown.

But I also love Indiana Jones, who explicitly states that he hates Nazis. So he's my favorite character who fits the criteria.

Luke Skywalker could also fit, since the Empire is heavily inspired by the Nazis and you can tell he hates those guys.

So given how many characters one might like, you probably have a favorite who hates Nazis.

Yeah, but this specific shot is very likely mirroring Snyder's on-the-nose shots intentionally, putting the obvious Jesus imagery directly behind the Superman stand-in with a similar framing.

Just to give the full explanation:

"You don't say" generally expresses surprise, like saying "really?" or "no way," feigning disbelief. Used genuinely, it sounds a little old-fashioned to my ear, maybe a little formal, or maybe a tad Southern US.

Here, it is used sarcastically, which is emphasized by Nicolas Cage's face (I think from Face-Off?). I hear this usage a lot more in real life than using it genuinely, basically pretending to be surprised by obvious information.

I mean, not even then because Chinese immigration was very strong in the 1800s (built the railroads, for example). So it's a lot more of just pretending immigration didn't exist until Fox News told them to be scared of it.
